Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release
Great work, I like the program and 2.5 works also on a macmini core duo
But i am missing tidel info, I can chose it at the menu bar but nothing appers on mine charts, one other minnor thing is the menu bars when not active starts to be transparent when not active but when I switch between programs it sometimes disappear completely and the only way to get it back is to restart the program.

Marks Disappear if icon set to "Empty"
I often create a "Mark" as a way to annotate charts, such as "12' min @ HW". Since there's no really appropriate icon, I set the icon field to "Empty" so just the text (Name) appears. This used to work in 2.3, but now in 2.5 the Mark doesn't show up on the chart if it doesn't have an icon even if the "Show Name" box is checked.
Repro:
- Rt click chart, select Drop Mark Here.
- Rt click triangle (default mark), select Mark/WP Properties
- Give mark a Name, make sure Show Name box is checked
- Select any icon (or leave as triangle) & click OK
-- Result: Mark shows up fine on chart
- In WP properties box, select icon "Empty" at the top
Result: Mark disappears from chart.
Was this a planned change? Am I missing something?
My Platform is Win7-32 using CM93 charts.
Otherwise, a GREAT piece of software! Thanks!

I don't know the answer to your question, but why not create your own icon for this purpose? As one alternative, I created an empty icon, that is still an icon and don't show, but still displays the name.

Thanks Thomas. Another workaround is to select an "icon" like Red Track (whatever that is). But the point is, if it wasn't planned, it's a bug. It's functionality lost (or at least changed) from 2.3.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release
I just tried version 2.5.0 on my Mac and found the menus are not in English. The preference tab says English.
Any ideas?

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release
I'll try to find time to confirm but in the interim will put this out there.
It seams that when I have OpenCPN running, my laptop will not go to sleep and/or the screen saver won't kick-in. This is all good and proper so long as OpenCPN continues to run but when I shut down OpenCPN my laptop still does not follow any of the power saving options normally automatic on my laptop. It will only start running the power saving option again if I reboot my laptop and do not run OpenCPN.
Come to think of it, I think it was the same on previous versions.
Has anyone else found this?
Regards,
Extemp.

I didnt have Tide data for my area, had to replace Harmonics files (2 in tcdata folder) that included South America, then I got my area stations. OpenCPN says that if you replace this files you loose tide funcionality but I gain the missing stations so I prefer this.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release
Not sure if you can answer but maybe you could direct me. I have the 2.1 version and have really enjoyed it until the grib file manager just disappeared and no matter what I do I can retrieve it. Also, it often loses its gps and ais connection.
I have a backup computer that I downloaded the new 2.5 to and it came out sort of fluie. The toolbar greys out and only rastor charts will appear even though I have installed vector (enc) charts, too. I'm cruising now so I'm afraid to install the new 2.5 in my main computer until I see I can get the bugs out first on the older computer running Windows 7 also but changed from vista.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release
I really like the possibilities of the Google linkup. It follows where I set my chart to nicely. But the real goal is to create mini-"charts" of harbor entrances & such that I can use when I'm offline. When I tried to do that I locked up my computer so I'm oviously doing something wrong.
So I RTFM & it points me to 21 PAGES of CF. Is there a (single) page or more compact small group of pages somewhere on how the GE plugin is supposed to work & how I can drive it?
Thanks!

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.5 Release
Thanks, Pavel! Just what I was looking for - much appreciated .
Terry seems to think that using preloaded GE caches is the best way to display GE satellite imagery along side OCPN chart info. I was hoping for an overlay of GE info, but I guess I can work with this. There's no doubt that GE imagery is superb - we've started putting satellite shots of anchorages on our Cruising Info web-pages, along with OCPN & MaxSea Track files (major update coming Real Soon Now... ).

Just my dos centavos.
