Release RC 2.4.720

Well, folks, this is it. One more round of smoke testing, and we'll call it good.
The only change I plan to still make is upgrading the Version number from 2.4.720 to 2.5.0. That's it!

11. Enhanced GUI functions, with floating transparent Toolbar.
12. Several new language options.
13. Improved internal memory management.
14. Improved Autopilot output support.
15. New Multi-leg Measurement tool.
16. Improved Vector chart symbology.
17. Improved integrated Tide/Current data accuracy.
18. Greatly improved staility on all platforms, as a result of extended Beta testing.

Thanks Again

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

The Ubuntu packages are now available on the OpenCPN.org download page.

Dave,
Thanks for all the work you have done in this beta cycle.
Looks like 2.5 will be a very good relase!

I think there are 2 things missing from your list.
*All the work done to bring Mac up to par with the other operating systems.
*The New Plugin interface (API) that has paved the way for many new and very useful plugins.

One more new feature: Selectable colors for routes

One bug in the grib plug-in:
I selected English in the opencpn setup but the grib plug-in shows some other language for weekdays and month:

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

Thanks Dave,

compiles well on OpenSUSE and is available in my home project home:steffenp.

One small problem: The grib plugin didnt work.
Error: /usr/lib/opencpn/libgrib_pi.so: undefined symbol: BZ2_bzReadClose
PlugInManager: Cannot load library: /usr/lib/opencpn/libgrib_pi.so

The reason is that libgrib_pi isnt linked against libbz2.

If I add -lbz2 to Build/plugins/CMakeFiles/grib_pi.dir/link.txt it works.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

Hoi Dave,
Don't know if it matters, as OCPN seems to run fine, but if i start it from a terminal I do get the following error response.

(opencpn:3037): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_window_get_origin: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

(opencpn:3037): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_label_set_markup: assertion `GTK_IS_LABEL (label)' failed

execvp(xcalib, -clear) failed with error 2!

Good one! Now if we could just have selectable colors for tracking. Perhaps based on vessel speed, ala MaxSea?

It's not some other language as far as I can tell.

Appears to me that the letter 'j' is being translated as 'ly'.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

Trying to install in Ubuntu 11.04 - the Natty Narwhal Iget a message that Says "The package is of bad quality" The installation of a package which violates the quality standards isn't allowed. This could cause serious problems on your computer. Please contact the person or organisation who provided this package file and include the details beneath.

The package doesn't provide a valid Installed-Size control field. See Debian Policy 5.6.20.
I select Ignore and then get the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/aptdaemon/worker.py", line 961, in simulate
trans.unauthenticated = self._simulate_helper(trans)
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/aptdaemon/core.py", line 510, in _set_space
self._space = dbus.Int32(size)
OverflowError: Python int too large to convert to C long

Help !!!
Thanks

The only thing that comes to mind is that you, for some reason, have a corrupted download. I have installed the packages, both 32 & 64 bits, on altogether 4 different Ubuntus from 10.04 to 11.04 without any problems.
Download again and try!

Running md5sum on the packages before upload and posting them along with download links would be nice.
