Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 620

Have been running 2.4.620 while anchored for close to 24 hours now. No disappearing route despite my best efforts to create one. The stranded predictor line however does appear while anchored.

The weather here (Prideaux Haven) is crap so we are staying put a couple more days to enjoy it. When we get moving again I will run 628 and try panning when the behaviour appears.

bob...

Hope your weather improves.

When you get underway....

If you see a "toggleable" route disappearance, you may want to exit OCPN immediately, with no other panning or clicking. Save the opencpn.ini and the opencpn.log files immediately. Then, later, you may be able to reproduce the problem statically at anchor by unplugging the GPS, and replacing the current opencpn.ini with the one that you saved above, and starting OCPN normally. It should bring you back to exactly the same place, same viewport, same scale, same charts.

The question is, "Same behavior?" If so, we can analyze at leisure.

Good luck
Dave

Absolutely. I'll try to get that for you. Should I exit with the route visible or disappeared?

Bob...

I guess disappeared would be best. You could try the reload on the ini file yourself at the end of your day's run. This would be the best control case since you have the BSB4 charts loaded already.

You may also try, when you get a toggle case, to exit immediately, and restart immediately. If the problem thereby immediately goes away at this location, with this GPS input, without any other actions, this will be good information, although it will indicate that the bug may be almost impossible to reproduce statically.....

Thanks for all your effort on this one.
