However, I worry about this.

There is NO CONNECTION between the RCRTCL and any TSS that may be nearby. So the corrected graphic is no more provably accurate than the original graphic.

I agree it "looks" nicer, though.

Still thinking....

What I suggest is simply replacing the old RCRTCL0X symbols par the newer RCRTCL1X symbols, that is upgrading to the newer norm.

Exemple old RCRTCL01 left, new RCRTCL11 right

According to that document, they are defined in the same terms

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 612

Regarding and comparing the display of the CM93 charts ...
  • the direction of bouyage (see my screenshot in #12) is not shown in OCPN - instead there is only a '?' on the map
  • how about the direction (degrees) of the DW routes?
  • would it make sense to display the OBJNAM of RCRTCL objects?
  • OCPN is rounding the degree values of RECTRC (see again screenshot , in the top center position) value given 92.9 displayed by OCPN 93 (well I mean 0.1 deg. does not make any difference but the general question is how far the program should change any values deriving from charts?)

Dave,
moving the toolbar doesn't work for me... maybe a wx-related problem? Any hints?

Any more detail on the sleeping status box? I cannot reproduce this problem on XP.

Dave
sorry for slow reply,Dave.Workproject interference

....anyways,It's an odd one.A tiny one.I just started up O now...to see.The gps is plugged in via xport and has a fix-it's been on for last half hour... OPCN was aware of the port in config.and was last closed with it enabled and fixed and so on.All well.

..so,as I was saying, start up OPCN and there's the white box.I waited and waited some more....but I didn't wait 15 seconds..? (haven't tweaked anything. All new gps settings left as default).Anyways,I then went and clicked it and it woke up...The window(as in Windows) was "active"-you know what I mean."in Focus" a better word?I was thinking this is what it was per "unfocussed",un-refreshed but even with the Window unfocussed, the boat is still swinging and making an effort to show a prediction line.
..sorry it's such a verbose description, but hopefully help to replicate,if it isn't something chimerical and unique here.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 612

Never fear,I'm going to try and catch it without Xport in between..
Edit just now...one way to try, just to see the white box momentarily seems to be to change from quilting to non-quilting.This causes a kind of refresh and the gps box is the last to refresh?

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 612

Aha,solved-as in "stupid"...but I didn't want to tweak a new install.That's my story..
Indeed, the new feature,Course up gps refresh WORKS exactly.

Turning it "up" to 3 sec gets a 3 sec pause.1 sec and a 1 sec pause if you change something in the dialogue as in quilting on/off.
Beauty,eh.

Happy....

In your GPS status window, do you have green bars, or simple green circle?

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 612

Dave,

I will be able to do some testing on a MBP. DMG would be easiest or good instructions to compile using X-Code.

Thanks for a great program.

Somehow the personalized usericons stopped working, ownboat icon does not show, only the standard ownboat icon.
Has something changed in the code for this?

...Green Bars...When I shift windows,as in writing this post,or change something in the settings,it's just blank for a second now (since I did tinker with its settings),then comes back.
But oddly,I'm not "sailing Course up" and even if I change the gpssettings to 20 seconds,it still comes back in 1 or 2.But there really seems less lag after I did fool around in there.
I like the Ghost-in-the-Machine theory best.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 612

Not sure if it's relevant or not,but if I Unplug-gps-in-action,OpenCPN responds well and shows the grey boat and the gps goes to red ball...
If I plug it back in,there's the white box and,and....nope.I guess I'll have to restart O...but I'll check the log before I restart...
Also interesting, the ol'T42 fan stepped up when I plugged back in so...yes.CPU is at 99 in the Windows TaskManager, ram at 8.5k.Must be a loop.
This is a usb gps,directly plugged(no XPort).
