Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 606

Another little glitch.

When using a vertical toolbar, the pop text is truncated for longer text.

I agree that this beta version is great and stable.
But as "P_Dub" I also miss the opportunity to set ship details with possibility to change ship icon i different zoom scale in chart. Other thing is also to set the fuels consumption so we can use it with the routes and tracks for calculation of total fuel consumption.

Regards

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 606

Hello testers....

Status:

1. The first show-stopper:
CM93, quilted, course-up, auto-follow mode with GPS (or simulator) input is broken. Discovered by Hjalmar, after testing at sea. Verified by me. Has been broken for some time, actually

So, there will be another Beta before the RC.

2. Related question:
The averaging period for COG-up calculations defaults to 15 seconds, and may be changed by hand edit of config file. Hjalmar suggest that 15 secs is too long.
Maybe we need Toolbox edit field for this parameter. We are running out of space on Etc. panel, so I suggest to put it on the GPS page, along with the filter period.
Comments?

Special Request:
Lets close some Flyspray tasks, if we can. I hesitate to arbitrarily close tasks without receiving the originator's closure request, but I'm sure some tasks are done with 606....

The Sunrise/Sunset instrument on the Dashboard causes a crash. It appears to be a miscalculated Sunset time.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 606

GPSD-Connection on windows is broken.

When opening telnet-session to the gpsd-server, I receive:
Code:
{"class":"VERSION","release":"2.92","rev":"svn","proto_major":3,"proto_minor":1}
After typing
Code:
?WATCH={"enable":true,"json":false,"nmea":true}
I get a valid NMEA-Stream.

Code:
$GPGGA,191249.000,3408.9996,N,11817.9761,W,1,09,1.1,226.7,M,-33.5,M,,0000*6F
$GPRMC,191249.000,A,3408.9996,N,11817.9761,W,18.03,79.69,200306,,,A*71
$GPVTG,79.69,T,,M,18.03,N,33.4,K,A*32
$GPGGA,191250.000,3409.0003,N,11817.9701,W,1,09,1.1,225.8,M,-33.5,M,,0000*60
$GPRMC,191250.000,A,3409.0003,N,11817.9701,W,18.14,84.45,200306,,,A*78
$GPVTG,84.45,T,,M,18.14,N,33.6,K,A*3A

I really would love to see this feature working...

Is the toolbar expected to change automatically to vert/hor style? I can change style only by editing opencpn.ini ...

Right click on the 'dotted' handle at top/right of the scale to change orientation. Also click, hold and drag elsewhere...

Luke Austria...

Are you running the GPSD server on the Windows (i.e.using localhost). Or is it on a network remote?

What command line/version of GPSD are you running?

It depends on where one is located. Here in California the value settm in instrument.cpp line 422 takes on a value greater than 24. A check for this condition fixed the problem.

Dave,

I used gpsfake command on a ubunto-box. As described above, I have a working connection from Windows to Ubunto. I've no idea how this is working on the OpenCPN-side of the Interface, but one would expect it uses the plain NMEA stream.

P.S.: just registred at flyspray and tried to add an entry in flyspray, but I have no permission to do that..

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 606

Hello, I just downloaded the 2.4.606 amd64 version for Ubuntu. It installed fine, but it does not open. I get the welcome screen, click ok and then nothing. I tried downloading and installing twice, but the same happens. What is wrong? I use Ubuntu 10.04.
