Great great great! and thanks to the whole team.

Here's an installer thing... i check the box for a shortcut on the start menu. but instead of putting a OCPN 2.3 shortcut there, it leaves the 12.2.1207 shortcut, which of course searches and can't find the program to start.

I noticed this on a Beta version and forgot to post it. sorry.

I answered this in #9.
The answer was not really correct.
See this Ubuntu bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ke/+bug/662198
It's a cmake 2.8.2-2, bug.
The real reason why my 64 bit package works, is that I a while ago, updated to 2.8.3.
This also solves demonboys problem http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tml#post581442

A 2.8.3 64 bit package available here.
32 bit version here. Both are untested first releases.
Upgrade is recommended if you are a first time compiler on 10.10 or you need to build OpenCPN packages for others.

Thanks Cagney. However I just downloaded the source and compiled it. That did it for me.

In 2.3.0 Do Plug-Ins Remain Enabled on Shutdown?

I am running 2.3.0 on 2 XP SP3 boxes and all's well. Thanks very much to Dave and the developers who have done such a great job and given so much time.

I notice that when I run 2.3.0 and enable both GRIB and Dashboard plug-ins that, although they work according to spec, they are disabled on shut down and must be re-enabled on the next start up. Is this intended, and is it indeed a good idea? I would think having them come back up enabled would be more desirable.

Not replicated with up to date Vista.
When I close OpenCpn with the dashboard displayed onscreen, it will be onscreen when reopened (and obviously enabled in the toolbox display)
The grib plugin is still enabled (obviously, any grib data on screen at shut down will no longer be here when OpenCpn is restarted)
The log says both plugings are loaded

opencpn 2.3.0 on fc14 gps problem

I hesitate to put this out as I could be missing something and I alwaysfeel like an idiot if I overlook something obvious.

intel dual core system with 4GB memory
fedora fc14 64 bit with gpsd-2.95-2.fc14.x86_64 rpm
opencpn 2.3.0 compiled from source as 64 bit app
garmin oregon 400c connected via usb

testing with opencpn
loading maps and mousing around is fast
tool => gps => nmea data source => network libgps and most other combinations
Setting Up GPS | Official OpenCPN Homepage is where I got the instructions for
garmin usb and gpsd 2.9

gpsd data server localhost
nmea baud rate 4800

checking the show gps/nmea data stream window - window is blank
and the top right icon remains red

By way of examining the problem I loaded up the gpsd-clients and
verified that xgps, cgps and telnet localhost 2947 all are working

I also loaded up gpsdrive and tangogps both are working so I am
guessing that either something is configured wrong in opencpn
or there is some other issue.

I also have an intel p4 system that is setup with fc14 32 bit and am
having the same results.

thanks - even without the gps the chart viewer is very useful

Open CPN will not run.

Having previously used Open CPN (and what a superb package it was), I recently lost most of my software in a fire. My newer upgraded PC is now up and running and I have downloaded version 2.3.0 however after going through the installation process, I have now uninstalled and re installed 8 times, I keep getting the message " Application failed to start because application configuration is incorrect- re installing may fix problem". I clicked on the website button and got message "You have installed Version 2.3.0 set to EN_US".
Please advise how I cane get it working,

Occasionally I get a message -- libgps mismatch then a yes or no. It seems if Iclick yes gps works somewhat. The thing is I compiled from source so I am
investigating if fedora updated the gpsd-devel package after the compile.

Any explanations as to what might be happening are appreciated. I will probably
remove the executable and recompile at some point. I suppose another possibility
would be that the gps libraries have changed api and the opencpn source has
some dependencies on the version.

Thanks. I installed it on ubuntu and on windows xp. Having some trouble with zygrib on ubuntu 64bit, latest version. Some simple instructions needed please. Also, want to install it on my MacBook. Any instructions available? This program is great and is super easy to use and fast! On my hp mini I already overlaid the grib weather without any problems. Could anyone suggest a suitable USB style gps for use with hp mini on windows xp and opencpn. Keep. It open, free and fast. Love it! Thanks guys.

This message seems mostly to be a problem with something in gpsd.
I have seen this a few times as well, but it has never, at least not the last few months, meant very much. I have just proceeded and "things" has worked as expected.

Regarding your earlier post:

When using gpsd 2.9+ always use "Network LIBGPS" as NMEA data source. If xgps is working, so should really OpenCPN. On occasion I have to disconnect/reconnect the USB plug to get it going.
With gpsd it is quite normal not to have any data in the data stream window.

As an alternative you can use /dev/ttyUSB0 as NMEA source, with a direct connection. Just make sure that gpsd isn't running.
Quote:
$ ps aux | grep gpsd
Should not come up with a running instance of gpsd.
Stop gpsd by
Quote:
#kilall gpsd
With a direct connection the data stream window should work.
