Moving Charts?

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it...

Just installed Beta (2.2, 1007) and the problem I have is with (appartently) moving routes and waypoints when panning charts, which could obviously be an important issue....

The attached shots hopefully illustrate the problem...

I had made sure that waypoints were locked down...

On checking Route/Waypoint properties, the lat/long positions of the route(waypoints) doesn't actually change...but this is not what appears on screen.

Now, went back to stable release (2.1.0, build 621a) where this problem did not materialise prior to Beta install...and this panning problem disappears......

Thought you may like to know, tho probably do so already!

Cheers
Paul

PS MANY thanks for awesome program(ing)....would love a plug-in/toggle option for everything in mag bearings though! ;-)

oops, that one is partly my fault. I just attached a patch to hopefully fix it to the ticket:

FS#134 : [patch] do not needlessly degrade fix precision

(untested; see also bugs FS#156 and FS#141)

imaginz....

Thanks for the feedback.
Will you describe how you have produced the route "moving" problem? I cannot reproduce it.

Thanks
Dave

Dave

I can recreate the problem. NZ 6153 Transverse Mercator. The route moves sideways, as it gets nearer the edges of the screen. If the route is correct as it is in the middle of the screen it moves to the left on the chart as you pan to the left. A tmerc thing?

Definitely a tmerc bug. Can repeat the same thing with a Swedish charts. I both cases, Mercator charts, of the same areas are not affected.

Re Flyspray # 155.

We need to know (from the log) exactly which ENC causes the reported crash. So far unable to duplicate.

Thanks

New Windows Installer Localization

Hi there....

Gunther (NetSurfer) has created a very capable installer for Windows which will debut in the next Beta. I'm excited by the prospect of having a smooth reliable installer that understands localization.

Now, we need to localize it.

I have uploaded to git repo the template files used for localization. They are in a private format compatible with the NSIS installer scripting language, and their structure should be clear. They may be edited with any modern text editor.
(Gunther: any recommendations? Are these UTF-8?)

They may be found in {root}/buildwin/NSIS_Unicode/Language files

They individual language names will be obvious. Take a look at the completed German translation to get the idea.

So, I ask for volunteers to edit these {}.nsh.in files for their language of choice. Send the edited files to me by email, and I will merge them into the coming Beta.

Thanks in advance for all your effort here, and a special pre-thanks to Gunther.

Yes, they are UTF-8 (with BOM) encoded - that's important.
Personally I use Notepad++ (Freeware) as Editor.

"Take a look at the nearly completed German translation to get the idea."

In one line there is the original English string. The line is commented out by a '#'. Leave this line untouched.
Below is the line which needs to be translated. The text needs to be enclosed in double quotes ("...").
Please do not delete any untranslated line. Every string needs to be present - translated or not. Otherwise no text will be shown in the installer.

There are also some CPack variables of the format @CPACK_PACKAGE_VERSION@
Use them in the same way. Most of them should be self-explanatory.
There are also a few characters for the text formatting:
$\r$\n = new line (CR\LF) Windows style
$\t = tab
$\" = use to represent double quotes
$$ = use to represent $
If you have any questions or problems please ask me (here in the forum, by email or PM).

I also would like to thank you for your support in advance.

Gunther

PS: If would be so kind and send me copy too then I'll test it. Be aware that the NSIS GUI does not offer much space for text (mostly 2 - 4 lines). So please orient yourself by the English strings - thanks.

The latest git pull (10/12) will not build a project on Vista. NSIS cannot read the project.nsi file. It doesn't like the starting comment.

Chuck,
it's part of the transfer to the new installer Gunther prepared for the future versions. You need a unicode version of NSIS (installer also in git)

Thanks Pavel,

That was the problem. Needed to run the CopyNSISUnicodeRegKey file also.

Yes, correct.

I updated the page on Compiling the Source in Windows | Official OpenCPN Homepage - see paragraph "NSIS (Unicode)"

Gunther

PS: Please be aware that there might by daily/ hourly changes in the installer script as I am still working on it - thanks!
If you want to test it already drop me a note and I email you the latest version (Dave couldn't update the GIT every 4 hours ).

I have a problem loading .BSB charts from Sweden since the new version and I'v had to move ALL my Swedish .BSB charts to another directory. All these charts loaded fine with the previous versions. Perhaps the new OpenCPN version does not accept foreign characters? like 'æøå'

AIS symbols

Is there anyone who has seen these? I suppose it's a European thing mainly, for now.

Dear Thomas,

For AIS symbols I suggest you to use the international recognized symbols as given in IMO document IMO SN/Circ.243. You can find this document on the internet with help of Google or something. Another place to find a brief overview of AIS symbols is:
AIS and ARPA Target symbols

A couple of weeks ago I requested Dave to implement AIS Base stations. He did so in beta edition 2.2.918. For that I advised him to use the simple square for AIS Base stations as given in the link above.

I hope this helps you.

Best regards,

Wim

Extra AIS symbols

As shown below, base stations are shown as a square frame with a dot in the centre. Querying the base station it should display it's information.
A wind sock symbol could also be shown to display local weather info.
