Hi

Firstly thanks for such an incredible program. I am amazed at the amount of time being put in by volunteers to produce such a result and admire the patience shown by the various contributors to solve even simple problems.

I have been trying build 416 under Ubuntu and there appears to be a regression with quilting for CM93 charts. The chart display is made up of Black areas with blue outlines in conjunction with the correct display of the chart. This occurs with both version 2009 and 2010 CM93 but did not occur with build 415.

A small request. Could the track properties box be made user definable .eg be able to see SOG at each track point and then allow the track to be exported in a CVS or XLS format to enable it to be entered into a spreadsheet. A simple way of keeping a record of a passage.

thanks
Chris

Regarding report from "cadlard" in post above. I can confirm that cm93_2-2009 blacks out in certain cases.
At position on dump below, this only happens when quilting the D level CM93 chart, other levels OK. Updated to latest CVS.

Printing in Linux

As reported here, printing is not working in Linux. Nothing much happens when I try, can't even get a preview. I must admit that I have never bothered with printing before, so I can't say when this stopped working.

Cagney/cadlard....

Confirmed, reproducible black screen at Bramble Shoal, IOW, on cm93 D scale quilted.

I'll look at it tonight. Also, the printing. I too have not looked at printing in a long, long time.

Thanks

When GPS is active POS, COG and SOG is displayed in the status bar. When I disconnect the gps the last values of these three variables are displayed for the rest of the session. They disappear after a restart. The ship icon also keep the course/speed line in front of it, but of course the color has changed. I think this is an unexpected behavior that could confuse the user.
Another observation, using the disconnected scenario above, the ship icon had a course of 143, but when zooming out changed to 180 on the last zoom level before changing to a circle.

I'm using gpsd.

One simple way of keeping the record of passage is to extract the LOGBOOK lines from the log file. These are produced unconditionally on every strike of the bell, i.e. half-hourly. If at the moment the GPS fix is valid, the entry will contain COG and SOG as reported by the GPS.

If more precision is needed, the actual track can be exported as GPX file, containing the position and timestamp for every trackpoint. COG and SOG can then be calculated as the average for every track leg. Bit of editing and Excel work... perhaps a companion application... but usually what OCPN displays is sufficient for analysis and iconography...

Cheers,

Piotr

Have an issue with the beta and don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong or a glitch. Downloaded the latest build and imported the NOAA ENC Charts for the Great lakes. I make sure quiliting is on and can see the green outlines of where certain charts are supposed to be but they are just a big gray box unless I zoom in extremely close and then can see the chart. Once I zoom back out again I lose the chart and there is just a gray box where the chart should be. Any thoughts?

Motorbaad....

Thanks for the report. I duplicated the problem easily. Look for a correction in the next Beta.

Thanks

2.1.0 Beta Build 426

Hello there...

OpenCPN Version 2.1.0 Beta build 426 is ready for download and test.
http://www.southbaynetwork.com/openc..._210_setup.exe

70. Correct for some poorly formed .kap files in quilt algorithm
71. Correct cm93 quilting logic around Longitude zero.
72. Implement Manimaul's new chartbar quilt control.(experimental, incomplete)
73. Update some strings for gettext() translation.
74. Another (simpler) take on the gtk GSocket compile problem.
75. Incorporate Pavel Kalian's new S52 rasterization rules and attribute definitions.
76. Continue cleaning up GPL licensing issues. (incomplete)
77. Correct to allow lower case scale characters in cm93 cell file names and directories.
78. Correct fault in linux printing...needs test in MSW
79. Remove the BigRedX, can re-enable by secret config option if you like it....
80. Add PiotrC ship's bell .WAV files, courtesy of Polish Radio Szczecin and friends. Thanks.
81. Correct lower status bar COG/SOG display to "-----" on lost GPS signal.
82. Correct cm93 quilt mode Object Query selection.

----Release Beta 2.1.0 Build 426----

Notes:
72, Big change in quilt control, courtesy the designs of Will (Manimaul) I'll let him explain these features. More coming....
75. Pavel made major enhancements to the S52 symbolization library. Lots of new symbols, especially useful in Europe. Simple things like green nun buoys, which are not found in North America, so were not in the rule set..... Thanks, Pavel!
78. Linux print...sigh... the code in previous Releases and Betas could never have worked. Works now for my linux. Needs testing in MSW.
80. WAV files for ships bells produced in a professional studio and donated to us. Read the README in sounds directory. These WAV files do not currently play in linux, and an error is logged. They need a slight format tweak, which is in process now. Work well on Windows, though. Thanks, Piotr!

Also, general improvements to quilting algorithm too numerous to mention. Performance improvements, mostly, and the odd crash fix.

CVS Updated.

Thanks, and Good Luck
Dave

Downloaded the new version and still had the "grayed out" problem with my NOAA Great Lakes Vector charts. Downloaded the RNC files for the Great Lakes and quilting works perfectly. When I zoom in extremely close on one of the grayed out charts eventually they show up but once I zoom out it is grayed out again. Will be copying all my files to a memory stick and trying a different computer tomorrow to make sure it's not something screwy on my laptop. Has anyone been able to duplicate the problem?

Here is a couple more screenshots that may help explain it better - here is the Chicago area zoomed out... I can see the entire area and see the red outlines of the more detailed charts. In the second screenshot I zoomed in with one click and lose most of the map. If I continue to zoom eventually I can see the chart.

2.1.0 Beta Build 426

Thanx Dave, great work

Much improvements!

one minor point (is there for some time, not this build specific), red X route properties window doesn't work.

I'm experiencing a lot of crashes in this build and cannot replicate it yet. I've updated my source and compiled in debug. The first thing i see in in normal ending, some memory leaks, see below. I know this doesn't help much but...

The thread 'Win32 Thread' (0x4dc) has exited with code 0 (0x0).
