Hello...

Will the knowledgeable parties please give me an update on:

1. cross platform cmake script, including latest changes (gsv.cpp....)
Is the sourceforge patch tracker version accurate?

I'd like to get this into CVS, and eliminate the gnu build stuff and the native MSW/VS project. Any dependency problems? What version of cmake? etc, etc.....

2. Mac Build. Does it build? Does it run?

Thanks
Dave

Chart info window

The date for updated in the chart information window is always showing 2000-01-01 no matter what chart, even for the newest ones (from 2008/ 2009).
And there is no Datum for all.
No difference if quilting is enabled or not.

Tested with S57 and CM93 charts and build 520a.

And as already reported on SF.net the program still crashes sometimes when enabling quilting (my personal impression/ feeling is, that there sometimes too many processes of S57 SENC File Create/ Load at the same time).

For the sake of usability (for non experienced users):
Is there the possibility to disable quilting on the next start up when the program chrashed before?
I sometimes had to edit the ini file manually to be able to start the program again. That's not a suitable option for many users.

Large Track File causes hang

I'm running 2.1.0 build 514. I imported a track file with 54580 track points. (1)Panning is very slow. More importantly (2) if you right click/track properties, the expected display comes up, but when you exit OpenCPN hangs.

I'm in quilting mode with a combination of BSB, S57, and CM93... Depth units are set to "Feet", and it's showing that for BSB, but in CM93 it's showing "Meters" in the units annunciator, even though the shown depths are clearly in feet.

Not sure what S57 shows, as it crashes loading us1po02m.000 - I'm on my windoze box at the moment, so no stack trace - will try removing .ini and rebuilding chart DB. Last bits of the log file:

Update: Resetting .ini and rebuilding chart DB didn't help, still crashes on us1po02m.000...

Test 520a windows

Hi Dave

Once more many thanks for all that works .
This version seams to work fine . On my 1366x768 and Vista , I didn't notice any problem for the moment .

Enjoy your trip . When you'll come back , could you have a look at that problem :

On my small 1024x600 and XP, I got the screen shown in picture 520-1
In Picture 520-2 , you can see on which chart the problem occurs
Moving slightly in any direction , and the display become normal as in shot 520-3
With exactly the same set of charts , I can't reproduce on 1366x766 - Vista

Best Regards
Jean Pierre

I am a little bit confused. Your screenshots show an AIS icon in the toolbar. I do not have this icon (in all the latest builds since build ???).
But I am at home and do not have neither GPS nor AIS receiver connected.

The AIS icon exists till 2.10
To get it , just put a valid com port in Tool box/AIS/AIS Data port

Ah, OK - I see.
That's what I thought already

So there is no COM port available to select.

Someone wrote about a GPS/AIS simulator. Does anybody have a link?

Thanks for the info.

Close route prop window

void RouteProp::OnClose(wxCloseEvent& event)
{
// Destroy();
// pRoutePropDialog = NULL;
}

Any reason why the event close window (red X) is commented out ?

520a and lake Michigan

just got off the boat and anxiously downloaded build 520a. i'm having big probs with quilting. i'm using the NOAA BSBs of lake michigan, but only seeing the smaller charts with big black areas around. see screen grab.

is this the Tmerc issue? looks to me like i'm missing far more than i'm seeing except right around chicago.

510 seemed much better for this although still had some gaps.

also, stupid question probably, what's the new icon in the right side of the upper tool bar?

phiggins ais simulator

I can't get phiggins ais simulator to run on Ubuntu 10.04... so I wrote my own. Thought I'd share it for those who'd like to test opencpn at home going 200kts.

All that effort to cobble together a simulator just to test the AIS icon... I could have been watching Star Trek on my comfy couch. meanwhile, back at the ranch...hours later

aisReplay runs on Linux only ... Instructions:

1. Unzip (keep all 3 file in same directory)
2. Run
3. Launch opencpn after running
4. Point opencpn ais port at /tmp/dev/fakeAis
5. Point opencpn gps port as "AIS Port Shared"

Thanks Manimaul,

I didn't manage to run phiggins ais with ubuntu 10.04 either.

aisReplay works well with ubuntu.
You have to make directory /tmp/dev yourself before running aisReplay.py

I have a source version that phiggins sent me, and I'm using. I have never really tried the version on dacust's page. As this program is gpl 2, here it is, along with some, extra data files that I've collected.
Just make sure aisgps_sim.py is executable.
Click here!
I hope this version works for you guys!
Thomas
PS, Will just ask me next time you really want to watch Star Trek
PPS, Your new icons are fantastic....
