I have a large yellow line at the bottom of the screen that conect to the chart information (stuff I don't really need to know as it doesnt include chart objects). When I run a cursor over it, or using Measure try to scroll down (which I do often) I run over the yellow line and it turns the whole screen pink!

But I notice in Pauls post abopve the yellow line is much shorter?

Can I turn off the yellow line feature all together?

The rest of the program is fine and dandy and quite happy

Things are imporving on each new edition.

I would still like to be able to draw lines anywhere, any time as bearing lines.
Also I would like to be able to measure a path, not just 2 points

Mark,

The yellow line indicates that CM-93 chart is being presented.

Dave,
very impressive progress as usually... The quilting UI is much better than the eyed one.
For the start an easy one: the quilting bar right-click menu is misplaced on Win as on screenshot attached.
I have a lot of freezes and crashes while quilting and ingesting particularly large areas with a lot of charts, especially when the odd-shaped IENC cells come to play. Will investigate it more later.

Thanks

Pavel

Dave and Will,
good thinking on the new quilting!!
It seems quite intuitive after minimal testing.
One thing that would improve the experience is to mark the charts that are excluded from the quilt, in the chart selection bar. For example in case of an excluded raster chart, mark the dark blue rectangle with a white dot or "X", or something that stands out, in the chart-bar. This way it is easier if/when you want to activate them again. As it is now you have to right click each chart to see if it is in the quilt or not, or see if it comes up pink when the cursor is over the chart in the chart selection bar.

I experienced a "gray out " on the screen, where the program appeared hung, but no segfault. First dump below. Quilting was on.

Yesterday in post #325 we were introduced to Hungarian inland ENC's down-loadable here: http://www.pannonris.hu/modules/ecdi...es.php?lang=en

I experience a few crashes with these ENCs both in 426 and 501 when quilting. See the last two dumps below.

Hi Pavel,
It is good to know what info you need exactly so I can give you the correct info.
I'll do my best;

Doesn't work here, no matter how far I zoom in or out.
But I can see the characters 'tkm' that possibly mark the kilometer signs/marks

What's important is stuff that's really missing completely (the bridge signs are of utmost importance here, but there is no bridge on this chart so I couldn't investigate what are you talking about here).
The bridge I meant is in Baja Danube km 1480, 33km upstream from Mohacs.
But also the bridge on km 1498.7, so I assume it counts for all of the bridges.
The lights and signs that mark the pilons are not showing.

And don't be too fixed to the look of SeeMyEnc, it's for sure more advanced than OpenCPN right now and looks cute, but is quite far from the Ecdis standard and has it's own errors at the same time...
Well, I'm not fixed to SeeMyEnc, but I have nothing else to compare against that accepts these charts.
To see if stuff is missing in the chart material or OpenCPN is just not showing it I must open the chart in 2 programs to compare.
Offcourse I have the Periskal viewer, but this viewer only accepts payed Periskal charts.
But if it helps I can provide Periskal screenshots.
(Ehm have to find out again how a window screenshot is made...)

Test 501 windows (complied from CVS)

Hi Dave

once more thanks for all that works .
Very good idea for the quilt management !

first tests :
1) Crash were re-building chart database after clicking "force full database rebuilt"
see screen shot attached crash1
no problem if I don't click this control

2) There is often a big difference between the charts in the screen (displayed or not) and the quilt control bar .
For example : Let start in the position shown in shot test1 where there are 3 bsb and cm93 charts available . Then moving to the position shown in shot test2 . The bar have not been updated
Another example shown in shot test3 : The bsb is normally removed , but is still displayed
I took only these two examples , but I have many, many others . In fact the control bar is updated withing at least 15/30 seconds after having moved the screen .

Best regards
Jean Pierre

I think it has to do with the order of the objects are drawn. I can see the lights and signs that mark the pilons at the bridge Baja Danube km 1480, 33km although they are overwritten by the contours of the bridge.

I'm studying on other Inland ENC's where i encounter similar issues.

Try Alt + Prnt Scrn and paste it into paint or so

Weird... It should look like on the screenshot attached, where you can see the numbers next to the km symbols...

The data are ok (you can check them in Object query dialog available in the right-click menu), just the question mark was not very well visible.
Note that the screenshot is from my local version with the new rules and a small modification to OpenCPN source making the light cones point in the right direction. But with the beta you should see at least the signs normally.

Sometimes such a screenshot could be useful as it is quite hard to figure out how the symbology should actually look and the only thing I can use as a reference is also SeeMyEnc.

Making a screenshot is easy - Alt+PrtScr places the whole active window picture into clipboard and you can paste it to whatever painting program you like. Some painting toy was always part of Windows, but I use Paint.NET - Free Software for Digital Photo Editing as it has some nice features.

Exactly. The area vectors with the same Display priority are drawn over the symbols. Fixable without any coding by lowering the display priority of bridges from 8 (hazards) to something lower. The reason I'm not convinced to do it is actually the fact that bridge is a hazard for navigation and the priority they have is part of the standard... The other possibility is changing the order in which rasterization library evaluates different objects. Haven't had a look at it but suppose it won't be that hard. Opinions?

Hi Dave
Following my post #338 , moving from a zone with only cm93 to a zone with several bsb : The screen update time (I means the time to display the bsb) is at least 5 seconds and control bar update spend about 10/15 seconds more . Tested on a dual core T3400 2016 ghz cpu and 4 GB ram and vista
I tested also on my small notebook Atom N270 and 1GB ram ans XP : it's even worts

best regards

new tets 501 windows

Hi Dave

I found a new and odd problem :
Sometime when I open opencpn , no charts bsb are displayed even if they are many available .( See screen shot wbsb1 ).
I would like to precise that it happens not only in a zone , but everywhere they are cm93 + bsb during this cession . exiting and re-opening several times and it works
If I remove cm93 , it changes nothing (see shot wbsb2) but if I move the screen then , I get that strange result witch remember me my post #316

best regards
Jean Pierre

I made a screenshot of the bridge at Danube km 1498.7 with both OpenCPN and Periskal
I must say that the Periskal viewer and its charts are somewhat outdated, late 2006 or early 2007.
But the Hungarian charts of Pannonris.hu are also from 2007 I believe.

You are missing quite a bit of candy here Try to have a look at your config and compare it with mine from the screenshot attached. Also have a look at your opencpn.ini whether you are not using the rasterization rules you installed with 1.3.6 - look for key named S57DataLocation in %APPDATA%\opencpn\opencpn.ini and check it points to a location in 2.1.0 beta...
The latest fixes are on the way to Dave, so they might be included in the next beta.
