Thumbs down dor and comma

Hi Dave.

You are asking the following:

"I wonder if it would be offensive to some if we simply declare that opencpn uses '.' for decimal everywhere?"

If this means I'd have to change from , to . as the decimal separator in all my programs (changing the Windows setup), it would mean I cannot use OpenCPN as a normal program - and I'd have to work with ways around like VMware running OpenCPN in a virtual machine. For sure not a solution I'd like

But if this only influences OpenCPN it is no problem to me.

I have also had the black screen and are using Norwegian setup of my PC, that is, using , as the decimal separator.

Good luck!

+1 on forcing the decimal to ".", if that really helps on GPX interoperability.

Win7/cm93

All....

Anyone using Win7 and cm93 together? It is reported that depth soundings do not display properly on some systems. I am unable to duplicate any problem locally.

Thanks
Dave

dot and comma

International folks...

My suggestion for using "." for decimal exclusively would apply to opencpn only. All other apps on your system would not be affected.

As long as you don't turn OpenCpn into a spreadsheet or a word processor

GRIBDirectory=C:\\Users\\Jean Pierre\\Documents\\Bateau\\Meteo\\GRIB-files
[Marks]
[ChartDirectories]
ChartDir1=C:\\Users\\Jean Pierre\\Documents\\Bateau\\Cartes\\BSB3^5102804902 56
ChartDir2=C:\\Users\\Jean Pierre\\Documents\\Bateau\\Cartes\\CM93ed2_2009^

There is no doubt, - your screen looks exactly like mine, look here (this thread):

Set the decimal point to '.' and the thousands_separator to ',' and it will run perfect until next beta is released.

Compris?

Ok , I was far from wifi for a few days and I didn't read all the threat before ..
Many thanks , I understand the numeric format problem ..
But for the moment I do not know how to change on my device and what is the impact on other programs ?

Win7 and cm93 works fine on one of my computers - all soundings are OK - equal to XP and cm93 on another PC.

Hello,
How can I change my config to set the decimal point to '.' and the thousands_separator to ',' on XP?

Thanks

A possible (minor) flaw might be the importing and exporting of GPX-data (and other data?) with GPS-positions containing decimal points. Like data from external programs (gpsbabel, Google Earth, GPS Trackmaker, Oziexplorer ..) running with decimal_point = ',' (european).
