Utinam,

In the toolbox under vector charts, check that the show depths box is selected.

Crash

A crash happens in the following conditions:

1) Go into Tools / Charts and add/remove a directory
2) Click OK
3) While the chart directories are scanned, click on either the larger or smaller scale buttons

==> OpenCPN crashes

Platform: Windows Vista Home Edition

I can confirm that the described scenario creates a crash on Linux as well.

Dave

I continued testing along the same scenario and found that all buttons, starting far left going right, as far as, and including the "Tide" button, except for the wrench button, behaved the same. In other words, button 1-6 and 8-10 created crashes. The rest of the "gang"
wrench, gpx, grib, color and help, behaved alright. Track button not tested.

Tide Harmonics...

All...

General question:

We have continuing requests for better worldwide tide/current coverage.

Question: Does anyone have recent information regarding French/Spanish/UK tidal harmonic files? I think that some of these data are state copyrighted, and not distributable as a part of opensource programs. But my understanding is not clear here.

Any info/discussion on this topic would be appreciated.

Dave

Although you can't distribute non-free files with GPL-ed data, we may be able to develop a standard procedure for adding the wxtide32 file to replace the xtide database..

The debian/ubuntu package xtide-data-nonfree contains Canada, Netherlands, Germany and the UK. No word of France/Spain.

The problems are explained concisely here. The current situation is not satisfactory; apparently the UKHO are flogging the data themselves, the way it's going, the islanders seem so bankrupt, they're even looking into privatising the weather service amusingly enough. You can get 6 days worldwide on the site.
