OpenCPN Under Alix Board - Which Linux ?

Hello All.

I am new to Linux and I plan to turn Opencpn on an Alix 3D3 board from PCengines.

At this step I dont know which way to take:

- Try to install Ubuntu 10.10 or newer on Alix and use the Ubuntu OpenCPN.
- Install a Linux Voyage distrib (which is made to turn on Alix) and re-compile OpenCPN..

Other ??

Well, also if I re-compile OpenCPN for Linux Voyage, I need to install
wxWidgets under Linux voyage...

Is there somebody who could give me some advices?

Thx

Re: OpenCPN under Alix board, which Linux ?

Cool idea. I use alix boards with voyage and have found them to be robust and low power.

It appears to me that dealing with the problems of compiling OpenCPN to run on voyage might go better than dealing with any OS issues. Plus with voyage you get all the alix updates, watchdog, wireless etc painlessly.

The alix boards that I use do not have video otherwise I would have tried opencpn there already... Might just have to get a board with video and a low power monitor.

Regards, Ethan

Ubuntu 11.04 is my favorite os for OpenCPN, the unity window manager is great for giving as much as possible screen surface for the navigation.
