Hi,
Here is a procedure to put in ethernet and wifi between OpenCPN from XP or W7 to a tablet W8.1

Re: opencpn to tablet windows with wifi

Merci. Very nice explanation. I wonder how well BR25 Radar plugin or Garim plugin would work in this setup. The opencpn wiki would benefit from a link and summary from this! Thankyou

They won't. The setup is about making the NMEA streams of OpenCPN available on Wifi.
Both radars don't use NMEA, so this particular setup won't help much.

According to what I read the radar would need multicast UDP bridged from a wired network to Wifi and I have not found any hint that Windows hosted wifi networks support this.

Why use OpenCPN as a TCP server? Believe it cant handle more than one connection.

I used a Raspberry Pi+ KPLEX software to make a NMEA wifi multiplexor. Now, any tablet or laptop w/wifi can get my instrument data.

Hi,
I do not know the use of Raspberry and you have to buy it.
With this method, a PC NMEA server as a client: a PC W7, W8, a tablet or a Mac can work together.
You can have a PC server to the chart table and W8 tablet in cockpit.

Raspberry is still experimental.
The W7 is now easier on the chart table and W8.1, maybe tomorrow W10 with a tablet in the cockpit

Hi,
a small back: I used the tablet as a repeater for a moonless night set in Ste Marie and Barcaggio (north Corsica), it works perfectly well.

Because OCPN acts as a multiplexer.

Because OCPN has a fine GUI to this multiplexer.

Because at the nav table there may be a tablet or PC running the OCPN already.

As you said, serial data multiplexer functionality can be replicated using a Raspberry board; (or else using: an ADSL mod/router, a wifi router, an android phone or tablet, a dedicated nmea router, etc.)

Re: opencpn to tablet windows with wifi

It's about 12 ours that I'm trying to establish a connection from opencpn on my Xp laptop to wifi (iregatta app or a MacBook with another opencpn).
It doesn't work, I'm not able at all to see any data (wind, depth...) out of my master pc.
Could you help me in any way? I've made every passage of the guide but...it still doesn't work...
Thanks 🙏🏻
