OpenCPN Tides and Currents

I'm using 2.5.0 and can see tides for the UK and Netherlands/Germany plus North America and Australia.

I can't see any currents except for North America.

Is there any additional tide/current data available for northern Europe? I'm especially looking for currents for UK/France and tides for France.

Don't forget to check/compare with official documents, though...

Re: OpenCPN Tides and Currents

Hi SailorF54

I've just downloaded the files and they work fine.

That was exactly what I was looking for - many thanks.

I do my passage planning using the 'real thing' (i.e. paper) but the real time info provided on OpenCPN is useful as a check when on passage.

How do you implement that into the program OpenCpn?
Bye

Re: OpenCPN Tides and Currents

Hi

When you paste this into the tcdata folder you will of course overwrite the existing worldwide harmonic file that is already there and every time you update OPCN that file will itself then be overwritten as well.

It would surely be far better to have a FULL WORLDWIDE harmonic file that includes all of the tides and currents.

Is there anyone working on producing this harmonic data or are the updates only available on a regional basis.

I personally would appreciate more tide and current info for the South pacific region and if there is such a file available then please advise me.

I don't know what you did but it does not work for me. The only way is to rebuild it all. Something is wrong somewhere.
