"opencpn: Symbol .." failure on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Hello All,

at startup I get failure messages. It is an Ubuntu 16.04 LTS system.

... /charts$ opencpn
opencpn: Symbol `_ZN12wxTextBuffer6ms_eofE' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
opencpn: Symbol `_ZN5wxLog12ms_timestampE' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
Speicherzugriffsfehler

I have OpenCPN running on a Raspberry Pi 3 and Windows with no problem. However I fail to get it going on this Ubuntu installation.

I tried the command line and the software center based installation, same result.

Any suggestion is very welcome.

Horst...

We see these messages sometimes when the version of wxWidgets on your system does not match the version used to build OpenCPN on the Ubuntu PPA.

Usually benign, and OCPN runs OK anyway.

Do you have run-time problems on rPI3 with this condition?

Thanks
Dave

That run through without failures.

However I still can enter the command openCPN and get the failure as described above.

On the R3 it works fine but I shall double check.

worked but
What is the output of
Code:
which opencpn
?

If you uninstalled the opencpn package but still can run the program, it seems like you have another, manually compiled, copy of opencpn on your system...

Hello Pavel,

Thank you, that helped to fix it. There was a residual installation from 2016. Cannot find the version but added a screen shot of the properties.

After removing this and some more files related
I reinstalled from the PPA.

OpenCPN is starting up now.

:-)
