Release 3.1.1328

Notes:
176. If you are running Debian Squeeze and want to install OpenCPN from the distribution.deb package, you will need to install with something like this in order to satisfy install dependencies related to libtinyxml:
$sudo dpkg -i --force-depends opencpn_3.1.1327-1_i386.deb

This is a Release Candidate.
What is left to do:
a. Test the new features of this Beta (169, 171, 177, 180, 182).
b. Regression test everything we can think of, especially Datastream oriented.
c. Complete and submit the last language translation files.
d. Review once more the last few Flyspray issues, either closing or deferring any remaining open tasks.
e. Include final documentation files.
f. Change the Version number, and publish it.

We are down to the final tests for this official release.
...No more feature additions will be entertained.
...Only serious (i.e. crashing or erroneous/dangerous nav information) bugs will be considered.
...No more changes to embedded original English text strings will be entertained.

I plan to let this Candidate sit for at least a week, and try to get some users who might be afraid of the term "Beta" to load and run it. Please help with this idea if you can. Call it a Release Candidate. Tell your friends.
Really, it is ready to go....I think.

Thanks, and good luck testing.

I get a "This program has stopped working" on Windows 8 x64. This happens when I shut down the program. I also got this with the previous beta release.

Hello Dave,

Windows XP SP3. OCPN 3.1.1328.

It seem Ok.

Using the last pot file, I see that some items are not translated when we use the new button "Print route" :

- The title of the window "Print route selection"
- "Elements to print"
- And the 5 items starting with "Show ..."

See screen copy.

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

Hello,

There's something that does not work in the button "Export all that is visible"

I place permanent layers containing many objects. What it seems to be taken into account even if I hide all layers.

In any case, the processing time is very very big. I feel it turning around.
The only way to stop the process is stopped abruptly OCPN by "Ctrl / Alt / Del"

This problem was already present in the previous version.

Witzgall...

Do you have any PlugIns running? Which ones?
Try removing any PlugIns one-by-one and see if you can isolate the problem.
We think AIS Radar Plugin faults on exit....

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

Hello Dashboard users...

If you are having trouble with Dashboard not displaying some items, we would like to see a recording of your NMEA data stream (using vdr PlugIn). The recording should be at least 30 seconds worth of data, and should contain at least two instances of each sentence that pertain to Dashboard instruments as configured.

In this Version, there is a new watchdog timer in the Dashboard, to prevent showing stale data. It is possible that the timeout value is too short, and sentences are not being received often enough to prevent the dog from taking notice....

Thanks
Dave

Testers...
With this release I also revived the Launchpad PPA with native packages for all the versions of Ubuntu at https://launchpad.net/~nohal/+archive/opencpn
Debian users having problems with TinyXML being too old there, please give the lucid .deb a try as it is built against TinyXML 2.5.3 and perhaps could solve the reported dependency problem for you...

Cheers

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

One more thing - I would like to hear about any problems with the plugins not bundled with the distribution so I can have a look at the problems before the 3.2 final release. So far on my list:
- Investigate the crash on shutdown with AIS radar
- Disable debug logging in the GE plugin

TIA

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

hello Dave,

First
Sorry, I forgot to attach the screenshot on items that are not translated as absent from the language file. I belong here.

Second
I return to the malfunction of the button "Export All That is visible"

I tested several layers one by one. It all comes opencpn.org website.
For example, with the layers that contain "offshore_windfarm" or "oil rigs" or areas of traffic separations, there is no problem.
But with the layer "World Exclusive Economical Zone", the command "Export All That is visible" does not work. And this, even if the layer is not visible. I recall that this layer is a huge file of over 10MB which contains 537 objects.

This problem is #949 in the tracker.

I think it's not so much the size of the file but the number of objects. When I opened, in the previous O version, a 1.2 Mb gpx file with all the sluices in France, about 1600 objects, O stopped working. After culling the file, I ended up with about 300 objects, the problem disappeared.

..
Short annotation: the "wind history" uses the first 5 sentences of TWD and TWS (each) to calculate the start value of the smoothed curves.

If you experience problems with the wind history, we need more than 5 sentences each ...
