Dave, Hum .... not so easy that you said ...

So, in French, "Alt-o", then "o", will get you the Options screen.
If the menu is not open, the "ctrl-," gets Options.

I hope that I understand what you say. but it's not that simple.

I remember the English items and their normal and natural translation in French language:
Navigate ---> Navigation
View ---> Voir
AIS ---> AIS
Tools ---> Outils
Help ---> Aide

I understood that the first letter could be important. Hence my tests.

Then, now, I understand that there are two problems to solve:

1 In my natural translations, there are two words that begin with the same letter: "AIS" and "Aide".
So I replaced "AIS" with "Cibles AIS". Bingo, the problem of "a" has disappeared.
Other translators probably encounter the same difficulty. Do not forget that the translation is done in Crowdin, so without knowing the context of the items used.
Should alert the translators in the wiki about it.

2. The French word "Options" begins with "o". But the letter "o" is already used for keyboard shortcuts "Ctrl o" which is used to place a mark at the position of the boat
So if I understand correctly, if the menu bar is absent, one should be able to use "Ctrl o" to open the Options. In this case, this conflicts to the other using "Ctrl o".
In the present state of things, and subject that I understood correctly, I have no way to open the options with keyboard shortcuts.

Please, said me if I am wrong here.

3. For more tranquility, with the letter o is the first letter of "Outils", I decided to also change the translation of "Tools" by taking a word that does not start with o. (I chose "Usine" is a word that begins with any letter used in keyboard shortcuts)
I hope you do not rajouterez keyboard shortcuts using the letter u (or U).

4. Warning: "Ctrl o" not open but the options "Alt o" does not do it either.

I hope all these remarks closer our point of view on these items and shortcuts.

Best regards, Gilletarom.

RD,

Regarding the portable mode of O, did you check if the Beta User manual is still up to date ?

Thanks

And in so saying this, I have figured out the exact cause of the problem.

The message says:
Quote:
Directory 'C:\ProgramData\opencpn\CrashReports' couldn't be created (error 3:the system cannot find the path specified.)

Good catch, I think!
Same error message for me, started from a portable hdd on XP.
I even tried to make O happy by putting a Crashreports dir in her portable folder but nogo.

Best regards, Gilletarom.
I cancel what I wrote above, and which is mentioned in this post.

Gilletarom Boom boom boom ....

That's eight days I see "Ctrl," and he never came to my mind that meant "Control" and "Comma" simultaneously.

For me, the "comma" was an anomaly ....

I present you my greatest apologies for being so stupid as I was.

Don't be to hard on yourself....
I reviewed this earlier today and was tempted to to write.
"Ctrl" + "," , in the wiki.
In the end I did not.....
Just to say, it's easy to misunderstand this one.

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2503 Released

just tried this CTRL+"," thing on Linux:

Yes, the option window open, but when I close it (cancel or OK) it pops up one more time, needs to be OK's or canceled one more time.

Does anyone else see this behavior?

Dirk

What i sthe "Beta User Manual"? I've been looking at this: Portable OpenCPN | Official OpenCPN Homepage and making edits accordingly.

Is there a separate user manual for the beta versions? Where is it located?

yes, there is 2 wiki. One for 3.2.2 and one for 3.3.xxxx (next 4.0).

Place your mouse on "Book" in opencpn.org web site and click on "3.3 wiki".
The second is here :
OpenCPN User Manual | Official OpenCPN Homepage

OK, I've never even moused over "Book." I'd always just click the links on the left side under "Book Navigation." The latter appears to be the 3.3 beta wiki, so I've been editing the right thing.

No, this was a "normal" boat, but I played VDR at maximum speed
and sometimes it looks strange.
