Also, if you cloned the git repo, you can checkout V 3.3.2410, rebuild, and try that.

Code:
$git checkout 792e7202cfb181c4b0e89b7332697d180359405f
will get you 3.3.2410

Good Luck

Dave,

It is not the arrow keys that are the problem. It is something a bit more insidious and almost certainly an issue with my particular Vista installation. For some reason O goes into a "mode" where it runs 50% CPU (that's 1 core on my Intel i5 2.4GHz) and painfully slooooowly tries to draw. If I am patient then it finally finishes whatever it is doing and then the arrow keys will scroll. I can't explain why the green arrows will scroll but arrows won't. It's probably something to do with the way the events are handled differently. If O is "busy" it must ignore the arrow keys but not the green arrows around the edge of the display.

Anyway, this is not an issue with the keyboard so that issue can be ignored and chalk it up to impatience on my part. Thanks for your help.

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

Hi,

Shortcuts tested on Windows XP, french keyboard, OpenGL ON

all working except :
Ctrl, : inactive (but working when invoked through Menu bar)

F9 : Inactive (but Q is working)

F7 ou F8 ou "Ctrl ->" ou "Ctrl <-" active only with raster Charts.

Would be nice if Ctrl Q (#FS1638) is added to menu bar (I am using O in fullscreen mode)

My Win PCs can be very slow if the chart buffer is upon building for first time in background. I tip may be to force the cache build, see:

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

RANGE DIAGRAMS FOR NEXT WAYPOINT Second Draft
====================================
Setting Options | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Advance route waypoint on arrival only.
Routes are explained in Marks and Routes. With an active route, the Dialog "This Leg" is visible near the upper right corner of the screen.
RNG(actual range) Distance to the next waypoint.
NR (normal range) Distance from destination waypoint to line orthagonal to current route segment which passes through ownship.

(Diagram needed)

NR alternative description: Mark the point on the current route equal to ships current "distance made good" towards the destination waypoint. The distance from this point to the destination waypoint is the "normal range".
(Thomas I think "distance made good" is not so good an idea, because for sailing it does not represent "normal range". Distance made good is considerably longer than "normal range" --See my earlier diagram, the horizontal dashed line from the bow crossing the current route. That is why that diagram doesn't work.)

The actual range RNG is always equal to or greater than the normal range NR. When the difference is greater than 10% both values are shown in "RNG"

The "normal" range is the second number shown. 1.88 in this case.

When following a Route OpenCPN normally decides to advance to the next waypoint if at least one of the following two conditions apply.
  1. NR (normal range) is less than the declared arrival radius.
  2. RNG (actual range) is increasing for 2 seconds. Ownship is moving away from the target waypoint, and has been for more than two seconds.
(Diagram needed)

With Advance route waypoint on arrival only activated, OpenCPN only advances the route to the next waypoint, if:
  1. Condition 1 above is true.
  2. Condition 2 is ignored.
(Diagram needed)

This feature is useful when sailing and you can't lay the next mark and are forced to tack a few times to reach it. It allows a ship to move away from waypoint without automatically advancing to next waypoint.
This ensures that the next waypoint stays active until you either reach it, or you reach a line through it, which is perpendicular from the marked route. In the latter case you have a cross track error greater than the arrival radius.

On the other hand....
Option 2 helps you if you really want to cut a corner by a large distance, in such a way that the "normal range" will never be less than {arrival radius}. We want to automatically advance the route in this case.

==============
This needs to be concise and clear. BCN thank you for your comments.
Should this be taken to a different thread?
If so, someone just start it. "Wiki Waypoint Turning"
I'd really like some feedback here, the diagrams are preliminary and we need more diagrams.
These two diagrams represent two conditions:

1. RNG =NR - Boat on the route
2. RNG and NR are different. - Boat off the route
This corresponds to bdcat 10% difference between NR and RNG.

All comments accepted including comments on graphics and legibility, as well as content.
(Later: I'll break this up into separate diagrams for greater legibility next go round.)

I have not been following your work very closely...
Have you got changes ready for the embedded OCPN documentation?
If you submit as a pull request we can get them into the next Release Candidate. Soon now... Thanks
Dave
Dave, Plugins Wikis for Climatology, Weatherfax, Cel_Nav, Weatherfax should be ready... AFTER export, you will want to delete the blank table notations from Climatology and Weatherfax. Please leave the tables with image links in the Wiki itself. Thankyou.

I am working on diagrams for Waypoint turning RNG and NR. Your comments would be appreciated. These could be added next go round if you want.

No, if you have CM93 and S57/S63 charts, F7 and F8 are active and spends S57 / 63 to the CM93 and vice versa without problems.

Clearly if you add raster (eg charts NV-Verlag), then:
- If you start with a raster, it remains in the raster.
- If you start with S57 or CM93, one remains in CM93 / S57.

Tested this morning.

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

Folks...

We expect to make a new RC today.

We added one string. To save time, and avoid another crowdin cycle for just one string, could I please have a few translations of the following:

Code:
"Warning: Chart Datum may be incorrect."
I will manually add this to the various most popular .po files.

Thanks
Dave

French :
"Attention : Le zéro des cartes peut être incorrect."

But if it affects only one chart then it is necessary to: "Attention : Le zéro de cette carte peut être incorrect"..

cOMMENS PLEASE.
How about a 3rd diagram that shows the boat cutting the corner short (E. of the WP). I believe the text mentions this.

For Sweden: opencpn_sv_SE.po (Now in Crowdin as well)
Code:
"Varning: Kortdatum kan vara felaktigt."

Thanks for changing the pictures in the plugins.

I will however get rid of the thumbnail/tables for now. It's dead easy to restore your current version later. Just check "Revisions/revert".
The intention is to revert, once 4.0 is launched. remind me if I forget or just do it yourself.

Serge

It works for Linux.

Håkan
You must have xcalib installed.
Check like this.
Code:
$ which xcalib
If it's installed, the result of the command should be

Code:
/usr/bin/xcalib
or similar. Just a blank line? Not installed.

to gain time - the "official" translators might change it later on if they want so

German:
"Warnung: Das Kartendatum kann möglicherweise falsch sein"

Spanish
"Atención: El datum de la carta es posiblemente incorrecto"
