Example 495401.KAP. The charts Datum Notice states that early version of NAD683 is used, still the kap file calls it "UNKNOWN". Probably fairly safe to change to NAD83.
Example 442001.KAP. No Datum notice on the chart. It should still be possible, with some digging, to find out what datum was used. This is a typical example of a chart were O can't just guess that WGS84 will be alright. It's better not to display it and warn the user in the log.

Thomas
Ok, I get that you folks don't believe me,and are simply cloning "NAD27 Canada" as "NAD27" . You might have different charts, but on mine, the refs are ALREADY SHIFTED. Shifting them more is going to make these innacurate, where they were not before, loaded as wgs84 or NAD83 which is the same thing.
I'm sick of screen grabs but I'll try another way..Here's an example of a ref from 352710 Baynes Sound Feb 1996 GD=NAD27

Ref 10 1477,3070, 49.6664806,-124.9180806
on the picture, (which is nad27), this pixel is on the lat/long lines 49deg 40min N, 124 55min W

The ref converted to deg/min insists it is 49 deg 39.988836 min N and 124 55.084836 W

If you want to consult your tables you might find that the difference is an accurate conversion already.

Code:
etc....BSB/NA=BAYNES SOUND,NU=3527,RA=7962,11578,DU=254
KNP/SC=40000,GD=NAD27,PR=MERCATOR

Just to confirm:

I plan to add "NAD27" to the accepted list of datums.

Will this cause you any particular trouble?
then:
Code:
No. did you try Stargazer's chart?

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

Dave, after I looked at newest georef.cpp I could see for sure.
I mean, after what I'd said, maybe you were going to make "NAD27" as "o correction?

...it didn't bother me because it was no big deal to change these charts, once it was confirmed what Opencpn is doing...ie: not actually running a subroutine that I can't see etc. and that I was right suspecting the refs and plys are already shifted. And, if you tried that chart..say in an older O versus the newer O you would see what I see...the correction will double...at least I hope so... but never can quite know. Maybe I'm wrong and something is stuck? the [ key for instance maybe that's an older version of chart and mine are fixed, those not?
after I tried to explain-not too well I guess ...but these are not the first time I mentioned the oddity-not at all.

OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released
see this post below in particular...
OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

but looking at the screengrab from that post

it's from a different chart-that'd be confusing, alright. I was in a hurry to show Thomas the correction itself and that was the one on deck at the time

Happy...

Well, actually I do not have decent mercator Canadian chart with NAD27. Lots of polyconics, but that adds another complication.

Thomas was nice enough to send me a large scale composite chart, but the georef on these composite things is suspect, so I can't learn much from it.

Can you email me direct a single chart that interests you (like 352710), and I'll play with the parameters?

Dave

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

Dave, good evening,

As I gently explained to Pavel and Rick in another post, I was in mode "madness" yesterday and today. So, as we say in France "Retard à l'allumage" (= "Delayed start" ).

I found the time to completely uninstall any beta, and version 3.2.2, which I had on my machine. Then CCleaner as usual.

I take this opportunity to point out that the S63 uninstall software deletes the plugin and all files related to it except the language file "s63_pi.mo" in the share folder.

Then I installed the 332430 again but directly without installing the 322 first.

With this configuration, on the Dashboard and Grib, both plugins start in English. But just stop O and the restart and the two plugins work in French.

I assumed too versions in parallel, and too much testing of any type, end up disturbing O.

Regarding the S63, I saw that you had at my disposal a new version of the language file in "po" and "mo."
So I replaced the file with your "mo".
And now, there is no problem with the item "Chart cells". It appears translated correctly when I run O.

Best regards. Gilletarom.

This should not be happening.

Do you have a log file that covers this action?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

Dear Thomas,

Have redone most of the screenshots in Weatherfax and rearranged some things I think it reads better and looks more like Climatology.

This image Under Polar projections is giving me troubles.
http://cdn.cruisersforum.com/forums/...0&d=1363349794

Weatherfax Plugin | Official OpenCPN Homepage Polar image is oversized for some reason. I have tried changing width and get it scrambled and have to back out.

I have looked up the image tag
HTML img width Attribute
<img src="smiley.gif" alt="Smiley face" height="42" width="42">
and the html seems to correspond, so it should work, I think.
Can you fix it?

Regarding the duplicate Weather_Routing, I thought I had fixed that. I wonder if that plugin got reverted? ..nope it didn't. I'm not going to mess with it hope you can repair, it is an artifact from when I started the page improperly I think.

There are some additions that could be done to Weather_routing, re Boat configuration, but I need to do some other things today.

Any idea when the door closes?

Thanks, Happy New Year
Rick

PS I found you can open an Edit wiki page and have your Screenshot file browser open at the same time. When you select "Source" to see html code it is an awful nightmare though. Machines aren't that orderly I guess because they don't care about format.

Here join what you want.

Note that I've made two new direct installation, making between two, total clean as always.

I did this because a first attempt to install the S63 had installed the S63 out of the folder "plugins" following a blunder on my part. But this is another case which shows the fragility of the plugin installation software.

I finally cracked the double entry for Weather Routing. Should be OK now.
The size of your picture fixed.

Still .... we need to get rid of all pictures that are links as well.
Just show pictures, that are not clickable links at the same time.

Just check OpenCPN User Manual to see what shows up in the final single page document.

Thanks & Happy New Year to all.

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

Installing the S63 PI one have to have a good look when asked where to install -
really pointing to the actual plug-in folder in the case of the Windows world (80%).

We promise to make this more easy in the future....

But the users of the S63 plug-in seem to be able to take this hurdle (normally)

No picture at all shows up, not even the Thumbnail!! Isn't there some way to get the thumbnail to show without the link automatically? What is the script or whatever that is creating this output?
I wonder if we should even have the thumbnail - linked screenshot feature on the main site! How the devil are we going to get back to that? --Better to just do it all as a flat page.

This involves about 30 screenshots in Climatology and Weatherfax. Fortunately not the Celestial Nav or Weather_Routing. Maybe I can inspect the html and get it working with some tweek?

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

Dave,

The zoom to cursor problem reared its ugly head again in build 2430. It works fine with "Smooth panning/zooming" activated. But when you turn that feature off, zoom focus is the click location (when clicking on zoom toolbar icon) or mouse location (when pressing + or - on keyboard). IIRC, this is the exact opposite from before, when the problem happened with smooth activated.

Verified on both Win7 desktop and Win8 tablet.
