Dave
It looks like I opened a can of worms with my request for stricter interpretation of the Geodetic Datum on kap
charts. :-)
We just have to
work through the alternatives and get rid of real garbage like "Undetermined" and "Local" and "UNKNOWN"
The GD=UNKNOWN was recommended in the NGA
project (by me) where there was no way of knowing the datum.
As already has been mentioned, it's worth discussing how to handle these
charts, that probably are OK for traditional
navigation, but dangerous together with a
GPS.
Checking my earlier list of rejected European datums against georef.cpp and this page
NGA: Europe Datums Table and wikipedia I conclude that
18:41:37 CET: Chart datum {
EUROPEAN DATUM 1950} invalid on chart
is just another name for
{ "European 1950", 14, -87, -98, -121 }, // 28
18:41:38 CET: Chart datum {
Ord Surv of Gr Britain 1936} invalid on chart is just another name for
{ "Ord Srvy Grt Britn", 0, 375, -111, 431 }, // 76
18:42:34 CET: Chart datum {
European 1950 (Norway Finland)} invalid on chart is just another name for
"European 1950", 14, -87, -98, -121 }, // 28
18:42:57 CET: Chart datum {
ED50} invalid on chart is just another name for
"European 1950", 14, -87, -98, -121 }, // 28
18:42:35 CET: Chart datum {
RT90 (Sweden)} invalid on chart s just another name for
{ "RT 90", 3, 498, -36, 568 }, // 86
The line
18:42:24 CET: Chart datum {Monte Mario 1940} invalid on chart
Checking this site
Supported Datums
a line like
{ "Monte Mario 1940", 14, -104, -49, 10 },
could be worth testing.
I think that the datums in red above could just be added to O:s list.
