Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

There are a few lines in dashboard that does not translate in O, it has been translated for about 2 years. I really do not know when this happened.
Reported in Crowdin.

Also, for a while ago, language selection got changed again... From "Norsk" to "Norwegian". Can you please correct this back to "Norsk" instead of "Norwegian".

HotRod..
I've "Norsk" in my built from source.

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Ivan,

there is no fix planning for releases - it's when the bugs are resolved,
So nobody can tell you Jan. 26th or something like this....

More or less like schedules for vessel voyages

I'm seeing the GRIB plugin toolbar oversized and pixilated .

No scaling options selected.

Screen 1024x768

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 plots waypoints at wrong positions on polyconic chart after switching quilting off.

Set up the condition.

1. Run OpenCPN.
2. Turn quilting off
3. Turn OpenGL off.
4. Center View on 42 35.5 N and 82 47 W.
5. Select US chart 14853_23.KAP.
6. Place some waypoints:
sea buoy (Clinton River "CR") at right side of chart,
start of dredged channel (Clinton River R "2"),
and drop some more waypoints at turns in the river.
7. Center the chart and zoom out enough to just show the left and right
chart borders.
8. Shut down OpenCPN.

Steps to reproduce.

9. Start OpenCPN. Screen should look like the first screenshot.

ID:	117078

10. Use F9 key to toggle quilting on. Only the background chart with waypoints will be displayed like the second screenshot. I think this behavior is to prevent quilting of non-mercator charts in DC mode.

11. Use F9 key to toggle quilting off. The right-most chart on the chart bar is selected. Select chart 14853_23.KAP. It should be at the left end of the chart bar. Now the waypoints are displayed at wrong places on the chart
as seen in the third screenshot.

12. Panning (left-click-hold and drag) will move the chart and waypoints by different amounts. It appears that the chart is displayed (and panned) at one scale and the waypoints are displayed (and panned) at a different scale.

13. Shut down OpenCPN with OpenGL off and quilting off.

Steps 9 through 13 can be repeated as needed. Step 12 is optional.

This problem seems to have started with Beta 4.1.925. My builds with commits between 8/10/2016 and 9/23/2016 don't have this problem.

There was a slightly different problem reported in the CF at the end of June (also Flyspray #1810). At that time the problem was with incorrect placement of waypoints on a quilted polyconic chart.
Polyconic quilt gone wrong

I found this new problem this morning when I was about to delete my test waypoints on the Clinton River.

Chart Weirdness 4.1.1317

Have downloaded RC2 v4.1.1317
At first it had blank screens and was halted.
OpenGL=on and Texture=on.
Turned off OpenGL and eventually cleared the texture cache.
Then it started working after several restarts, etc

After using it without OpenGL for awhile, started to use OpenGL, then texture cache.
Was testing and then there was a chart error that popped up. Then used it some more and charts seemed to work, then the screen went black. Then got this weird screen of GPS & orientation icons, full screen.

I could still use menu and toolbar.
Went to texture cache and hit rebuild cache (see image)
It rebuilt USCG 01 for about 30 minutes.
Screen was still black, could not seem to get the charts showing. Switched chart types ENC, RNC, Cm93 etc. I then shut down..

Re-started Opencpn and the charts worked fine.
I have no explanation for this chart weirdness!

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Also the above occurs is with Quilting ON.
Also is it normal for the screen to go black when rebuilding the database?
This is with quilting on and off it happens.

Charts come back after the rebuild.

@ .Paul.

Complicated setup for polyconic georef error, but I got it.

Fixed in github now. Seems low enough risk.
Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

In the Mac OS X bundle of 4.1.1317 the files libchartdldr_pi.dylib and libwmm_pi.dylib are included 2 times. One time in /Contents/Plugins/ and one time in /Contents/SharedSupport/plugins/.

Why???

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Hello Dave,

Lenovo U41, core i5, 4 Mo RAM, W 8.1.

That I said here, it was correct with original 411317 version. I work now with a O411317 that Jean Pierre send me. same problem.

Many crash without explanation.

I run O
I do not shutdown O
I run some other software, by example Firefox, or Mail client (Thunderbird) and/or other ...
I work a long time with this or these other softwares.
I return to O

THEN
Sometime no crash, sometime crash ...

I never see this kind of situation.

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Hello Dave,

using the actual release 4.1.1317 (Windows 10 prof 64bit) it is not possible to import my charts (KAP files generated with imgkap, the import with release 4.0 is OK). There is no error message in the log, but the visualization of the charts is incomplete. The behavior depends on the used file extension and the number of charts (tiles). If I use KAP instead of kap as file extension the number of displayed charts is bigger, but always incomplete. Strange, but checked on three computers. The import of CM93 is OK. Sometimes OpenCPN crahes using the tab “Chart Groups” (visualization of this tab is quite slow compared to version 4.0). At all OpenCPN is a great software!

Regards
Martin

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

10% error in distance reported in track logs.

Definitely didn't see this in previous versions but now I'm seeing OCPN reporting track logs 10% longer than other software using the same GPS . It's easy to see, a 20 mile track reports as 22 in O, a 30 mile track as 33 etc.

Yes, and it was the author of that note...
Will fix it for the next release.

Jean Pierre works to replace the png icons by icons in svg. It is already well advanced. There are still some details to resolve. If Dave is patient, it will be available for version 4.2.
And then the grib icons do not pixilated.
