Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Dave, Jean Pierre,

After my last post #179 and #180

This morning I started to display "particle map" using Grib plugin.
Twice, trying to shut O directly, without closing the plugin, the closing has not occurred. It took click on the plugin icon for O closes.
The third time O is closed without problem and without the need to click on the plugin icon.

After that, I made other tests, either by closing O immediately or leaving O open longer, up to a few minutes. For all these tests, O was closed without problem and without the need to click on the plugin icon.

?????

Here join my log file. Impossible to send the grib file because too big (404 Kb)

Best regards. Gilletarom.

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Dave
I just checked. Another "Special Condition" that I had
Options > UI
Enable Touchscreen checked
Enable Tablet Screened graphics checked
When I Right-click it bombed with no lat-long menu. [First session only]

Yes, I did.

Quote:
Re left click. When I left click it does not center the cursor location on the screen. What happens is the cursor has grabbed the chart and i can move it around , same as hand. I rather like that!
Yes, this is action in Tablet mode. When unchecked the left-click centers the screen normally. [User Manual is correct]

Notes re User Manual:
1. Keyboard Shortcuts
- Show differences for Tablet mode. Left-click - grabber & pan
- Pinch and zoom, etc.
2. Right-click page should become "Mouse Controls" and cover left & right click and roller.

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

I just got it to Bomb on Right-click again, see attached please.
It has something to do with
Options > UI
Enable Touchscreen checked
Enable Tablet Screened graphics checked
First uncheck these. Use O a little, test right-click. Then check them.
The test right-click. Bomb

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

There is another little problem. After testing F5 or "C" Color and F6 Dimming
I think this is caused by F5 or C.
The Options screen gets stuck dimmed. See screenshots.

Only way to get rid of it is to close O and open. -Something to do with writing the condition to ini?

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

It is too late to make this change, after some discussion, but I would like to suggest changing the keyboard shortcut

Options = control + [comma] to
oPtions = control + P (or preferences)

as that is unused and the use of "P" is an alphanumeric and more expected.

I'll put it in tracker. Vote for it if you like it.

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Use of keyboard shortcuts is a complex issue requiring more in-depth research IMO. Several OS shortcuts have appeared in Win 10 for example. It may be impossible to avoid all conflicts but there ought to be a way to make a chart that shows all the combinations and which are already dedicated to each OS, the O core & each plugin. Then it would be easier avoid conflicts. If there already is such a chart I didn't see it anywhere.

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Rick...

OK, I can reproduce the "center view" crash on WIndows. You can too.

Just copy a long (> 64 chars) line of text into the windows paste buffer before starting O. Then start O normally, and try right-click->center view. It will crash every time, I think. Nothing to do with touch/tablet.

The fix is simple, coming soon.

Also, the Options color shift problem is fixed in github now.

Thanks for the persistence.
Dave

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Dave, Jean Pierre,

I installed the same version of OpenCPN on my tablet that runs on W10.

And I took the opportunity to charge a pretty big grib file (3.4 Mb) that I used on the tablet and the PC.

And I realize that I can not leave the "Particle map" mode. In other words, if I uncheck the checkbox ah-hoc, which I valid by "Ok", the window closes but this display of "particle map" continues. And if I open the window again I see the box "Show particule map" is still checked.

This is true on the PC and on the tablet.

On the PC, I try a little grib file. Only 92 Kb. And in this case, it is easy to stop particle map. Same test on tablet. same result.

Gilletarom.

I confirm. And more, the black screen, is present. But, as every time, impossible to display this black screen

Same issue with the PC under W8.1 and the tablet under W 10. And the only way is to shutdown O and re-run O to return, normal situation.

This test was conduct with OpenGL OFF.

If I repeat the test, with OpenGL ON, in this case same problem that RGleason speak but without the black window. Iden PC or tablet

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Gilletarom...

I have fixed both issues with extra black screen, and dimmed Options dialog. In github now.

For the extra black box: This box will be present on Win 10 in non-GL mode if the brightness is less than 100%. No way to prevent the Win10 Taskbar from showing this, unfortunately. But the box is removed when the brightness is restored by the user to 100%. It does no harm in the taskbar, just a distraction. Win10, pfuuu.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

@juehoe...

I confirm your bug report, and can reproduce. This problem relates to quilt boundary reduction/simplification logic. Clearly the algorithm fails if there is a very small "bump" in the cell boundary at small scale.

Won't be fixed for O4.2, but I would appreciate it if you would enter this into Flyspray bug tracker so that it won't be lost.

Thanks
Dave

Dave, I admire your patience with our criticism of all kinds. And I'm always amazed at your responsiveness.

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Gille & Bdbcat,
Have been downloading gribs and testing grib_pi and trying particles some glitches but nothing repeatable yet. It may be the operator...

I did have one little gremlin for a brief period. When I paused at the edge of the screen the green arrows started working and seemed to work fine. I just had to slow down.

Then the up green arrow started following my cursor around and was attached to the cursor even in the middle of the screen! I have a screenshot if you want to see it.
I don't know what caused it... icon transfer? or the icon did not change when it should have? Anyway it only showed once so far. I can send the pic later. Got to go pay taxes!

Using a 2mb grib.
I seem to be able to turn it off and on. Gilletarom, Should I try a bigger one? (-We know this was pretty cpu intensive, but it has gotten a whole lot better and better on resources.)
Hey, particle works with or without opengl. When did that happen?? I thought it required opengl.
