OpenCPN plugin for Bridge Command use

I'm thinking that a OpenCPN plug-in to show data from Bridge Command sessions is a grate idea!
- Radar overlay
- ohter navigatinal information like position, depth, heading
https://www.bridgecommand.co.uk/foru...7.html#msg1257

What do you OpenCPN users and developers think of these idea?

In a few months creating a radar receiver that receives the Bridge Command datastream will be quite feasible. I'm in the process of creating an abstract radar plugin that can be inherited from and would require implementing only the receiving/sending of radar data.

Is this a Radar VDR? Doesn't VDR_pi record the nmea0183 being sent to the radar currently?

Radar data is not transmitted as NMEA0183! As there is no standard (industry, official or open source) this is always proprietary, e.g. every brand does it differently.

Re: OpenCPN plugin for Bridge Command use

Data that can be sent as NMEA should be readily visible in OpenCPN.

A couple of years ago I played with a flight simulator, viewing the scenarios in OpenCPN. Sounds similar. Some screenshots can be seen at

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1517589

I did look then also at Bridge Command, but other activities took me away...
