OpenCPN plugin API

Hello everyone,
I currently work for a little compagny, and i have to made a plugin for OpenCPN.
My plugin target OpenCPN 4.2.0.
I have to send and receive NMEA3008 data from the AIS.
My plugin can read data from the AIS (using SetNMEASentence() event)
but i didnt find any function in the API that allow me to send NMEA data to the AIS.
Is there any example of this ?

what is nmea3008 and what messages are you sending to the AIS?

My bad i use NMEA0183 protocol.
I've recently found the PushNMEABuffer( wxString buf ) function in ocpn_plugin
can i use this function to send NMEA data to the AIS ?
