What size is your display?
After OCPN is "killed", does

Code:
$dmesg
give anything useful from the kernel log?

Dave
So it looks like OpenCPN is being killed by the OS for using up all the memory.

Is this a problem with OpenCPN or something in the OS ?

Thanks,
JM.

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry Pi2

RP_pi - jessie, OCPN 4.1.1301
I have only language English US in tools-UI-Language
Why are not the whole list shown? All mo files are installed.
Probably my lack of Linux knowledge but please advise.
Thanks

Maybe try to add the other languages to you rasperry
Code:
sudo raspi-config
and then option 4, Internationalisation Options.

Petter..
Maybe but OCPN has its own translation files.
Tack

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry Pi2

Håkan.

It seems to me that you need to have the actual language installed on your computer under Linux to make it possible to show the opencpn translation ? At least on my computer, If I change the language in opencpn to a language not installed in the operation system, Opencpn will stick to the previous displayed language even if the new language option in settings is used. My system has English and Norwegian language installed in the os. If trying to change opencpn to Danish, nothing happens ( still displays English) but if I try to change to Norwegian, Opencpn also shows Norwegian menus correctly.

Petter
OK thanks I'll take a look later although I think at least Swedish is pointed to in .config.
But - I don't even have the language list in OCPN - UI. The list consists of one row - English (US).

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry Pi2

Hakan...
Petter is correct, you have to have the locale installed on your Linux system, otherwise the language is not even offered by OpenCPN.
Try
Code:
sudo apt-get install locales
sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales
to enable the languages you are interested in.

Ok - Many thanks to both of you.
Sorry for my persistence, but sometimes I trust to much in the simplicity of Linux.

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry Pi2

Pavel, Petter
I've checked my Pi and the locales are as this.
Code:
pi@raspberrypi ~/builds/OpenCPN/build $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales
Generating locales (this might take a while)...
  en_GB.UTF-8... done
  en_US.UTF-8... done
  sv_SE.UTF-8... done
Generation complete.
But still only one row in the UI-language selection list.
What more can I check?

Starting O from cmd gives this back:
Code:
pi@raspberrypi ~/builds/OpenCPN/build $ opencpn

What do you have in the log file? Did you build with wx 2.8 or 3.0? Can you try with 2.8 and see if the result is the same?

Slower than before or slower than without opengl. I"m guessing the FBO isn't working. My latest patch (which isn't merged) for raspberry pi gives good performance for cm93 and should in theory work on the cubie truck.

This problem remains:
With OpenGL=ON, TextureCompression=OFF, RasterCharts OpenCPN becomes unresponsive after panning and zooming a bit.

I quickly run out of texture memory with compression off on only 1280x800 resolution.

I don't see the crosshatching when exiting the program, is that the polygon stipple? I don't notice any ill effect from that.

I'am using Raspian version on a Raspberry PI 2 . To get the Dutch language I downloaded locales-all with Synaptic. I just tried also the Swedisch language.

The result !

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry Pi2

verker....
I loaded locales with apt-get, shouldn't be a difference should it?
What other differences between our system?
-I've Raspbian on jessie.
-Build with "cmake .."
-English as "system" language.
I'll - Test the locale by switch to se-SV as system lang. - Check on another machine.
Thanks
Håkan

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry Pi2

RB_pi cont...
Tried to change local lang. but it didn't had any effect on the system, still Eng although sv_SE was selected.
Also tried to add nl_NL but no effect on OCPN languages list.
Concl: OCPN is not to blame (as usual?) My system can't change language or recognize those installed.
Next step??
Thanks/Håkan

Hi Hakan,

my system Language is Dutch. But that does not matter for OpenCPN.

Apt-get or installing Packets via Synaptic is the same. Because i'am using a 32 Gig stick withj plenty space, I took also locales-all.

These seems to be allready precompiled language files. And then you can simply add the desired language to O. Restarting O and you have the Swedisch language.

Regards from the Delta area,

Bram

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry Pi2

For your system you can switch the language with:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales

if the language file is allready available
