OpenCPN on Raspberry Pi 2 and plugins

Hi,

so now I start a new thread.

Im running opencpn 4.0.0 on a raspberry pi 2. OS is the original raspbian jessie.
I installed opencpn from the agurney-site using the script :
wget http://agurney.com/raspi/opencpn_4.0.0-1_armhf.deb

I also installed a package for the libwxgtk2.8-0 etc. prob.

So opencpn is running. I can use my self-made scanned rastercards. All looks fine.
I also installed a lokal wifi network to get remote control from my android tablet to the pi. This works good, no probs.

The prob is to install some of the plugins.
After I changed the path to pavels launchpad.net side I was able to download the plugins with sudo apt-get install....

The only think is that Ive not able to fix the Problem with the key so I get the message during install that the package is not trusty. I can ignore that and than the package starts to install.

The plugin will be installed I can find it in the raspis softwware mangement Center.
But opencpn does not find them. In the plugin mangement there are always the two build-in plugins grib and Dashboard.
The second prob is that opencpn loose the Settings after power down or rebooting. Then the Settings for the build-in plugins are lost. When I ve activate them and I Close opencpn then at the next start they are deaktivatet. I first have to activate them and do all the settings again.

Do I have to do some changes in the opencpn.conf or must the plugins be installed in a Special Directory ore what is my problem?

Help! Please!

Thanks

Andreas

Andreas29...
I don't remember those instructions exactly, but suppose your OpenCPN is installed in /usr/local (standard location for locally built stuff), while the DEBs from Launchpad install the plugins to /usr (standard location for the packaged stuff)
If you want to use the prepackaged stuff, it would probably be better to simply install even OpenCPN itself from the PPA. And of course a 4.1 beta, as it received way more attention on ARM.

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry Pi 2 and plugins

Hi,

thanks for your answers.

I solve the first prob with the plugins. I deinstalled all the opencpn packages including the plugins and the main program. Then I installed them again but over the grafik menue of the pi not from the LX-console.

It works now. Pavel its like your way, unfortunally I read your post after my try-and-error way.

Now the only prob is, that the pi loose the settings for the plugins from opencpn.

In the log file I can find out that the pluginmanager will first load the plugins and then deactivate them

Picture of the opencpnlog see attachment.

Hope you can help me to solve this little prob too.

Andreas

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry Pi 2 and plugins

Hi,

last problem solved.

It has something to do with the rights of the user-groups under raspian.
I started opencpn over a remote desktop connection where I ws loged in as user pi. When I started opencpn from the desktop Icon I got the plugin prob (loosing the settings).
When I started opencpn from the lx terminal with "sudo -b opencpn" then it works without the loosing setting problem.

I grown up with the VC 20 and C 64 Basic-Computers, then with the xt and at dos and Windows Systems, but Linux is new for me. Feeling like a stupid newbie

Thanks for helping

Andreas
