OpenCPN on MacOS: BSB Charts

I am just becoming acquainted with OpenCPN. I am running Version 4.0.0 Build 2015-01-08 on MacOS 10.10.1.

Is a plug-in necessary to utilize BSB (or raster) charts?

If so, is there a plug-in for MacOS?

I did spend ten minutes searching for this information, but couldn't find anything precisely on topic. I see a plug-in for BSB charts listed, but only for Windows.

No, there is no plugin needed, unless you talk about the encrypted BSB version 4, read Chart Formats | Official OpenCPN Homepage for detailed info.
