Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

in github
https://github.com/seandepagnier/wea...tree/master/po

It says fr.po is 8 months old and has changes.
and weather_routing_pi.pot is 8 months old and it says "Regenerate POT file"

How do you regenerate the POT file?

Do you have to use Linux and the POTFILES.in script? Which says "Update POTFILES and POT file."

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Just run make or cmake and it should build any old translation files. To be sure run make clean or on Windows:

cmake --build . --config release --target clean

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Hi everybody,

Rick, my repo has the updated pot file (weather_routing_pi.pot), and the fr.po which is up to date: https://github.com/stelian42/weather...nch-updates/po

I do not have much time right now (Christmas and all that) in order to look at Crowdin...

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Ok, finally created an account on Crowdin, however I cannot find where to upload the POT file (the one actually present is several months old).

Maybe this is an action restricted to admins. If this is the case, someone needs to upload the correct file (I gave the link in my previous post).

This may be Sean, on Rick, or I can do it as well if someone gives me the proper permissons.

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Just contact Hakan or Pavel to upload the file into the existing OpenCPN Crowdin.

There are already files for Weatherrouting and Climatology:
https://crowdin.com/project/opencpn

So careful when mixing...

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

stelian..
I can make a Crowdin pot update, no problem, but I need a hint when it's time.

For weather_routing_pi Crowdin pot file is updated yesterday, by me, according to https://github.com/seandepagnier/weather_routing_pi. I thought that's the official plugin code? (The new file contained no changes)

If you have a local repo with another code I get confused. Why not update the "official" code?

A "normal" Crowdin workflow is as follows:
- Code is changed and all strings are ready for translation.
- The developer message, e.g. me or Pavel, it's time to update Crowdin base pot-file. (Message by mail or here)
- I pull my repo and update the POTFILES.in and the .pot file.
- I update Crowdin with the updated .pot file.
- All translators update each language file in Crowdin.
- When we think the translators are ready I download the new translations, i.e. the .po files.
- I do a pull request to, in this case, https://github.com/seandepagnier/weather_routing_pi including all updated files. (POTFILES.in, .pot, .po)

I'm happy to serve you but I need to know when it's time and where to find actual plugin code.

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Hakan,

You're correct about the official location. The reason why I gave a link to my own repository is that I have updated the POT file and Sean hasn't merged yet. But it's not very important, we can wait for him to merge then you'll update the POT in Crowdin.

However, there are still some problems. For example, if you have uploaded the latest version from Sean's repo, the string "Cannot edit switch plan since there is no other plan to switch to." shouldn't be present anymore, however I still see it in the Crowdin interface.

I have the feeling I see both old and new strings...

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

stelian..
Yes, you're correct. The file I uploaded earlier was from the core code. I wasn't sure about what was the most resent code. Now I made a new .pot file based on the code in Sean's Github and there was changes. The string you refereed to is not there. Please have a new check now.
And if you or Sean change any strings in the code please let me know and I make a new upload.
For your info I've renamed all .po files to comply with the new standard. We now use e.g. "pt_BR.po" instead of "pt.po". That's to be able to distinguish between Portuguese and Brasil languages.

I'l make PR to Github master now with the new files.

When translations are finalized to a plausible level the new .po files can be pulled to master. Please let me know.

It's ok now, I have updated a few strings but it's OK.

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Hakan thank you for the PR to sean. I updated my repos with Stelian's branch Fr.po and POT, then tried your's and got two conflicts.

https://github.com/rgleason/weather_routing_pi/pull/2
Conflicting files

po/fr.po
po/weather_routing_pi.pot

Here is a comparison of my repos master to hakan's new branch..

https://github.com/rgleason/weather_...ansvo_update

How would we resolve these?
Compare the two Fr.po by hand and make one good one that gets uploaded to Crowding too?

Then what do we do with the POT files? Compare them too?
I thought they were automatically generated when you compile with cmake. (TDAN)
--So it guess that is the POT enlish words/phrases that should be used?

Should'nt we use a POT for wxrte from a current compile?

Just trying to understand.

Hakan,

Sean merged my changes, including the new pot.

Can you please:
- pull Sean's weather_routing repository, and upload the new pot file into Crowdin
- cancel your pull request with the updated translations, there are conflicts with the new pot

Once you upload the pot file, I will check the french translations and you will be able to make a new pull requests.

And after that, of course, all the other translators will be able to do their job for the other languages.

Thanks,

Stelian.

stelian..
The pot file from today's master fetch is now in Crowdin. No changes detected in Crowdin though.
I'll cancel my PR with the pot file and make new with the po files rename only.

I think we'll pause this for other social activities for a day or so?
In other words:

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Håkan

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Hakan,

Thanks, and Merry Christmas indeed to everybody !

You can do the PR with the renames when you want, the files are OK now. But no rush, this can wait a few days...
