BTW: Are you using Poedit for the translation work?

Thanks,

See page 18, the last french file that I send today.

Note that the work of comments is not finished.

Yes I use poedit.

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

A note for all translators using Poedit:
I just found out that in the right-click (context) menu of each string/ entry there is a reference to the according line in the appropriate file (if you have the source in the right place).

So maybe
Quote:
it becomes harder and harder to know to which part/ section of OCPN a certain string belongs (latest pot file contains more than 700 strings).
could be circumvented by adding some "hints" to the source code!?

"Hello Dave, ... and all other programmers ..."

Thanks,
Gunther

Thx Netsurfer

Now the sources can be had at
SourceForge - opencpn/opencpn/tree - src/

Just create a 'src' folder in the same dir as the .po file

Use 'raw' to download the source file(s), strip the src_ prefix in front of the file name, and put it into the src folder...

You can also use the GIT Extensions for Windows which integrate nicely in Explorer.
Then you can e.g. clone the Repository from git:\\opencpn.git.sourceforge.net\gitroot\opencpn\ opencpn
and copy the 'src' folder to your folder with the .po file(s).

So you do not have to manually edit anything.

Gunther

Well I didn't want to ask how to do it, so I described my clumsy way... hoping you would give me a better way, if there was one for Windows...

Thx

I have done a Hungarian translation for OpenCPN, attached is the .po (rename from .doc) file. No plugins yet, and I had limited ability to test, but will try to impove.

You can use the VDR plugin to test AIS.

A sample replay file is available at
NavMonPc
(PacCupStart.txt)

Replay this file and you'll get AIS targets moving all around San Francisco bay

Merci beaucoup pour le lien ...

There is one problem left ...
No matter what I've tried I couldn't manage to show up any of the selected COM ports in OpenCPN!?
Of course I have closed and re-started OCPN every time I changed the setting in NacMonPc.
Also the monitoring there shows that the file is being played.
But no connection with OCPN ...!

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Gunther

Displays fine.
But
I cannot stop VDR (close X on window is inactive)
Turning off VDR in the toolbox leaves the VDR play window and static AIS targets on screen
There is still a extra button on the task bar (can be play or record, it seems)

There are two buttons: one for record, one for replay.

Push one button and you get a dialog to select a filename.

While playing or recording, push the button once more and recording/playing stops.
The button is beveled (keeps down) while playing/recording...

That was inteded to be easy and intuitive. Seems it's not :-(

I miss the option to just pause the playback.
Because every time you click on the play button in the toolbar the 'Open file' dialog is opened and I have to select the file again.

What's also confusing is that after stopping a playback all the AIS data remains. How to get rid of it?

Gunther

Cheer up...It just took me a couple of minutes to figure out (There MUST be a way... He's French, therefore not daft )
Things would be better if the label on the play button read something like PLAY ON / PLAY OFF
or perhaps cycling PLAY ON / PAUSE / PLAY OFF as per Netsurfer
