Re: OpenCPN General

Sounds good I'll look into that as soon as I figure out my current issue.

I don't think I have all the charts that I thought that I downloaded.

After I update from the added directory the download chart menu always has the same charts.

So now for instance I'm trying to go down the icw from Charleston. And the church only go to certain River and then they stop. I must be doing something wrong with the adding directory. I'll keep on fooling around with it now that I have some time

Re: OpenCPN General

Another clue. So when I open the chart and seeing my own ship and I hold down one of the green buttons it highlights an area of the screen that I want to open up but all I get is the information about the charge I don't know how to open up the area that it highlights. So I assume the chart is there because I downloaded region 6 I thought but I can't open it up.

Re: OpenCPN General

Ok so you possibly downloaded USCG Region 06. That is good.

Now when you push a chart button there is a yellow menu with details identifying the chart. Good

Then I think you just tap your finger in the chart area and the chart should draw.

Re: OpenCPN General

On my older S4 I just tap the chart buttons to change the map. If I hold my finger down longer the chart info shows.

The larger scale chart buttons (zoomed out)are to the right.

Re: OpenCPN General

Jimske, you should be asking about android in the android forum. In any case I suggest you start a new thread titled as you wish and we can continue there. Ok?

Re: OpenCPN General

I got a couple days to play with it. I got it now.

Should I also be adding the RNC charts to my directory?

Re: OpenCPN General

JimSke,
You're doing great. I made a new thread for you and others asking "general questions" about use of OpenCPN (who happen to be using OpenCPN Android). See http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...id-193454.html

Re: OpenCPN General

HI, sorry if i'm hijacking the thread midstream.
I'm having trouble getting my charts open in OpenCPN. they are AusENC's - pack 5 (NSW - Vic to QLD border).
The provider has looked at some screen shots i sent and believes my permits are present in the system, but only 'Useage 4' cells are displaying.

this manifests itself by showing no detail in certain places like Sydney harbour. only a low res thumbnail type sketch.

is there a thread on a problem like this?

Thanks

Trev

All good.
I hadn't loaded the first update properly.
just did it again and then re-imported the files - hey presto!
Thanks

Re: OpenCPN General

Sticky threads stay at the top and are used as needed, generally short posts. Jimske's issue merited a separate thread.

Re: OpenCPN General

Recently loaded Open CPN (vers. 4.8.0) to my Mac Powerbook (with OS X El Capitan 11.10.6) and had a friend provide his world charts (CM 2011-06 World_All). I have tried in vain to get these charts loaded and functional with my Open CPN software. I loaded the PR and VI charts from the internet successfully but have not been as lucky getting these whole world charts to work. He is using a DOS computer, me a MAc. Can anyone help me get these charts loaded and functional on my Mac. I would really appreciate someones help with this. Thanks in advance!

Re: OpenCPN General

First macOS version El Capitan is 10.11.6 and not 11.10.6.
There is no difference installing cm93 charts for a Mac or for any other OS like Windows or Linux. All files and subfolders (named with numbers) should be in one folder which you name as you like. This folder you point to in the chart settings of OpenCPN. Activating a chart refresh after that is not wrong.
