Re: OpenCPN for Puppy Linux

sailorband...
Could you be more specific about what's the problem with the newer versions? None of the devs is using puppy, so it's more than unlikely that we will do something about it when we don't know what's the problem...

Re: OpenCPN for Puppy Linux

In Puppy i can get the deb or Ubuntu packages. but there no automatic dependency-search-tool.

After install the newer OCPN (in different Puppys) comes the follow:
Quote:
# opencpn
opencpn: /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2u_adv-2.8.so.0: version `WXU_2.8.11' not found (required by opencpn)
opencpn: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.11' not found (required by opencpn)
#
after some copy and paste comes (sometimes)
Quote:
# opencpn
opencpn: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.11' not found (required by opencpn)
opencpn: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.11' not found (required by /usr/lib/libwx_baseu-2.8.so.0)
Normaly i can clean such things with C&P from a Ubuntu usr/lib.

But now it doesnt work. Why? Dont know?

This has already been done. Look up Navigatrix.

Navigatrix.net • The First Linux Distribution for Cruisers

This is what I am now running on my Eee-900. It has OpenCPN, zyGrib, Stellarium, Airmail, HamFax and lots of other stuff preinstalled. It's based on Ubuntu, so anything for Ubuntu works. Can be installed fully functioning on a USB stick or SD card (for computers that will boot off SD) or as a harddrive install.

Regards,

Owen

Re: OpenCPN for Puppy Linux

Thanks, sailorbrand! This works well for me on three Pentium M laptops...I did upgrade OpenCPN to 2.5 (the deb worked so I guess dependencies are the same?) the help here for icons has been a big help too...

Re: OpenCPN for Puppy Linux

to save going upthread,to use O (opencpn_2.5.0-1_i386.deb)
on Puppy 528,you need these:
libwxbase2.8-0_2.8.10.1-0ubuntu1_i386.deb
libwxgtk2.8-0_2.8.10.1-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

and,gpsd-2.90.pet which is a puppy package for the gps.Unknown(yet) if this'll work for old gps' serial out using usb->serial emulators..

200mb.sum

This worked great for me. I didn't need the gpsd pet. O worked great as-is with my Delorme USB mouse GPS.

Thanks!

jafa, check this out too:
OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1511
per "xcalib" so the dimming screen will work.
Nice to have a puppy with nightvision intact!!

Thanks for that.

One other problem I have now is that the vertical red line that shows the current time when displaying tide/current info is off by 8 hours. It says it's displaying UTC - 8, but it's displaying current local time -8

Any ideas? Maybe there is something simple I'm overlooking?

Re: OpenCPN for Puppy Linux

For those interested, after installing libtinyxml.so.2.6.2.deb from Here:

http://packages.debian.org/sid/i386/...2.6.2/download

The OpenCPN 3.0.2 .deb package installed/upgraded without a hitch.

Re: OpenCPN for Puppy Linux

libtinyxml worked for 3.0.2 by the way. Thanks jafa.
...it's pretty stale to say so now but I also had your "time" problem when I set Puppy's time to wrong zone...

gpsd3.3 deb updates my older version and works fine.
My problem for today is that cm93 loaded from host computer's hdd causes a crash, while plain ol' rasters work fine...
the log just ends at:
"14:08:05 PDT: Loading chart data for /mnt/sda5/Cm93/files/00300000/A/00300000.A"....
