This has been mentioned by several people.

I added a feature request in FlySpray for:

Batch "ingest" for ENC charts.

I would be fine with even a command line to allow batch ingest of all ENC charts in a directory or directory structure.

This would allow for disk space planning, as well as speeding up scrolling around.

Re: OpenCPN for Mac

captain KJ,

I put together a Leopard machine and verified that the crash happens just as on your machine. As I suspected, the libraries needed to build in the Leopard environment for it to run OK.

So I have done that, in fact one stage better, I have built it for Tiger as well. I have run it on all OS X versions from Tiger upwards & it runs OK on them all.

The new version has been uploaded. Please try it out.

Re: OpenCPN for Mac

Thanks so much for the latest Mac OpenCPN.

I've put it on my 24" iMac and my 17" MacBook Pro. I also downloaded the entire chart set (NOAA RNC) to both. I now have a killer complete chart set I can browse, zoom and explore! This is easily one of my favorite apps now. Combined with my Garmin suite of RoadTrip and North American Mapset, I have detailed maps of everywhere I'll go, both land and sea.

Since I'm landlocked in Dallas/Fort Worth, the OpenCPN maps are more of a novelty to me for the most part, but still extremely cool to have. It's fun to just scroll around and explore the coastlines, bays, harbors.....

Is it possible please to create a new flyspray group for Mac OS X bugs only?
Most of the found bugs in the Mac OS X version related not to Windows or Linux.

There is a SourceForge forum https://sourceforge.net/projects/ope...3/index/page/1 but this becomes not usable anymore because of the many found bugs.

Re: OpenCPN for Mac

First off, thanks for the Mac version! Also, thanks for the tip to move the dashboard. I have one other issue with the dashboard though, if you look at the screenshot you'll see that it doesn't automatically size correctly (the rudder angle indicator is cropped at the bottom).

Re: OpenCPN for Mac

That happens on all versions. You can either re-size manually or dock the dashboard to left or right, when it will automatically re-size to the full chart height.

Re: OpenCPN for Mac

@malcolmh - Thanks, didn't know you could dock the dashboard in the app window. That works much better.

Re: OpenCPN for Mac

Thanks for the screenshots and hard work guys. I posted them on the OpenCPN.org site as a news story.

Please PM me when we need to change or update the download link on OpenCPN.org/download so that it tracks with the best available build for Mac users.

Later,

W

Re: OpenCPN for Mac

Actually there is a try for a real 64bit Mac OS X version with a better Mac Look + Feel. There is still much work to be done in either versions.

Re: OpenCPN for Mac

Doug,

From your screen-shot, I assume that it is a raster chart that gives this problem? I see the same effect, but it also happens on the Windows version. Whether it is a bug or an intentional limit, I don't know, but it is not a Mac-specific issue. Try trawling back through this forum to see if it is mentioned elsewhere.

Re: OpenCPN for Mac

Hello,

thanks for the Mac Build!

Unfortunately when i do "Object Query" on any kind of
object in the NOAA charts i only get an empty window
with an OK Button. No text :-(

Please see the attached screen shot.

I had the same problem with the 1.3.6 Mac Version.

I removed ApplicationSupport/OpenCPN and
ApplicationSupport/Preferences/OpenCPN*
and reinstalled the charts but that did not help.
This is on SnowLeopard.

regards, hb

It has not been noted clear enough that these are all very early beta versions with many, many bugs. The missing "Object Query" is not the only one. There might be crashes and other things. Using beta versions you accept your computer can even been destroyed! So it is at your own risk!

manimaul: Please insert a warning there.

Re: OpenCPN for Mac

hb,

This one of two known bugs in the Mac version, the other being that the Tides & Currents display does not work.

Please be patient, we are working on it! In the meantime please report any other bugs you find on this thread. If you have access to the Windows or Linux version, it is worth cross-checking with those first to determine whether any given bug is Mac-specific rather than generic.
