Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718

Antii:

re:
"This theory would not explain why AIS target outlines do behave exactly the same way as the grid lines. Target outlines are drawn to all directions."

We are drawing features using different OpenGL settings, for different items. This was done in this Beta to try to isolate what is going on here.

Definitely involves GL_SMOOTH and GL_BLEND, with thin lines.

I expect to get my hands on a phone reported to have this problem later this week (Moto Xoom). This should allow me to set the options optimally once and for all. I hope I do not have to condition this by phone type/Android version....

Thanks for your patience
Dave

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718

Hubert....

Thanks for the stack traces. This is exactly what I needed. I see the probable cause of the crash now, and can easily try a fix for the next Beta.

We are trying to quickly repaint the screen on coming back from hibernation, but evidently the OpenGL subsystem is not quite ready for the call when we make it. Solution will be to defer slightly the repaint, until the system is up and stable.

There may be others who are also crashing in the same way. Please continue to post stack traces as convenient.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718

Hi @ all
I've download and install OpenCPN on my Acer A210, it looks very nice and my CM93Charts are ok. But I never had a GPS-Signal. Each other Apps like DK-Navigator ore GPS-Test recieved the internal GPS-Signal, only OpenCPN ignored it.
My connection-setup is:
- enable: yes
- Type: GPS
- DataPort: Internal
- Priority: 0
- Parameters: no entry
- Connection: Input
- Filters: In: None out: None

Proberties: "Built-in GPS"; next Control "1" ; Control Checksum "ok";
Input filtering: "Accept only sentences" and no entry
Output filtering is only grey

Where is the problem ?

Thanks for your help

close all other programs using the GPS. Only 1 program can use the GPS at the same time. Hmmm, maybe not correct for android ??

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718

Columbus488...

1. Are you sure the GPS has a position lock? You can run GPS-Test at the same time to confirm. Android supports multiple GPS listeners at once, so no problem here.

2. May we see your logfile?

3. Are you definitely using OCPN 4.1.718?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718

Argh. I have missed one beta and can test only maybe tomorrow.

I have found the following in current beta minus one:

- O crashes on selecting any item from mobile object (AIS) tap and hold menu (e.g. tagret info, etc.),

- O 'refuses' to hide the top bar (the one with O logo left and some icons right) much as I try with my fave 'full screen' enabler, BAD PANDA ;-(, I do like full screen option on our 7 inch only tablet,

The good: fab screen, interface and MUCH improved config part. And the night/day etc. options work now too.

Missing: any option to display nav data received from the instruments??? PLS at least DEPTH in the bottom bar where lat long are visible.

I think wind speed and dir graph would be a logical thing to have too - after all many users are sailors.

I have tested gps/glonass/beidou/ais via TCP/wifi - all work fine.

Thanks for your work!!! GREAT JOB!

I'll be back ...

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718

Today finally some time to ride this beta.

Findings:

- adding chart folders in the 'advanced interface' crashes,
BUT
- adding chart folders in the upper right corner menu (three dots menu) OK,

functionality:

- in horizontal, 'AIS target list' difficult to hide on a 7 incher as the 'close' button not visible (not enough space for it); swinging to vertical may bring the button BUT it may not (at times),

- can hide the bottom bars with 'full screen' but cannot hide the top bar, and the top bar has some very bright icons in it (e.g. the O icon), I think being able to hide all bars would be nice, otherwise the top icons should be darker, or dimmable, (for night navigation),

Otherwise: tested internal gps OK, wifi gps OK, wifi AIS OK. CM93 and BSB charts OK.

Big thanks.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718

barnakiel...

Are you using full!screen on a rooted tablet?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...orn.FullScreen

Do you know of any full screen wrapper apps that a) don't require root, b) actually work, and c)are not advert-loaded? If there is one, I'll test it and try to make OA do the right thing.

Thanks
Dave

Hi,

Not rooted.

I am using 'Hide System Bar' App.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hidebar&hl=eng

I am fine with the top bar where it is as it is but you may want to make the icons there stand out less in night nav mode.

PS Btw is there a way to feed DSC & DSE to OpenCPN?

THX,
b.

b.

Thanks for the tips.

DSC and DSE can come in through any available connection, and should work. Or at least they were tested and working once....
Problems?

Thanks

Can't see 'all ships' DSC on my installs (one on a PC, the other on an Android). I bet I messed up the cabling to the router when working on the multiplexer.
