Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718
Testers...
There have been isolated reports that GPX file import is not working correctly, or event causes crashing.
I have tested, and find no problem.
So, if you have specific use cases that fail, I'd like to hear about it, with details.
Thanks
Dave

re:GPX import. I was just retesting this after reading ploubazz 's post - Import works for me from sd0 and sd1
BUT WEIRDLY I cannot export to sd1... But export to sd0 is fine. I am even including ".gpx" in the export name just in case that is the problem...but no.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718
On a different phone, Samsung note 1 android 4.1.2 (rooted),
I can confirm ploubazz' import problem..I cannot import from either sdcardExtSD, even when OA has successfully exported to either. It's a "black crash" shortly after I choose the file with my touch.
add tombstone_09.zip.doc which is last crash.

I don't know if it can create a crash, (it never occurred in my tests ) but there is something curious in the logic when loading routes with the same GUI
Take or create a route and export it as "route1"
Modify this route by adding, removing and/or moving route points.
then change the name and export as "route2".
you have now two different routes (route1 and route 2 ) exported with the same GUI and one (route2) in navobj file.
Now re-import route1.
All the route points present in the two routes have became common.
That means : if all route points have been kept and only moved, route1 is now same as route2
If some route points have been added or removed, route1 is something between the original route1 and route2
But in any case you have the two different routes expected.

JP...
Regarding GUID collision:
This is not specific to Android, I suspect. I believe I follow the logic, and it is a potential problem.
It needs to be documented in Flyspray, and added to the TODO list.
Thanks

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718
Happy...
As usual, confused again. Will you please tell me again the full path names you are testing for import/export? These things change from device to device...
For example, my Samsung phone has only one extSDCard. There is no physical SDCard slot. And extSDCard seems (?) to be a Samsung only file directory name. "extSDCard" does not even exist on Nexus nor Moto.
This makes bugs hard to reproduce and shoot.
So, testers, please be as brutally explicit as you can with device identifiers and file path names.
Thanks
Dave

sorry mine inglish,use traductor,
I can not put the details,
as I open this scrtitta opencpn out immediately and stops,
I can not do anything else
After The program worked well, then I installed the new update, and immediately seemed to go.
then trying it in the boat with the GPS kept andarmi bloc, came to a halt.
Meanwhile I changed and installed a memory card samsung 64 gb,
and moving them a bit of stuff I would not have erased something ... I thought I should not do unnecessary.
However opencpn uninstall, reinstall it, and I could no longer charge cards CM93,
I try in every way but nothing to do, and sometimes still is stopped.
then I read around to try to change the date of the tablet that has some fixed everything !!!!!
I try date change, but from then on I get this written, and as I said everything I press stops.
now is definitely a bug,
but now I can not do anything else, immediately stops
very thank

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718
Dave
This Samsung Note from the OA export OR import dialogues, paths are:
/storage/sdcard0/Documents/tryexport.gpx
and
storage/extSDCard/STUFF/testexport.gpx
But what might really bug you, is that there are six other Folders in the /storage folder named
/UsbDriveA,B,C,D,E and F! They are "placeholders, I guess because this device can accept a Thumbdrive with the right cable plugged into the charge/data jack.
I've tried a thumbdrive plugged in and sure enough, it is USBDriveA. I will try a powered usbhub in there and I expect other drives plugged in will use the other "placeholder" folders...

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718
ghega, you might be onto something there, per "time"...
If I take the battery out of this Samsung, when I reboot it, the year will be 2000! Sometimes, I have forgotten to set the time to today and it causes crashes in apps until I fix it.
I'm not using it as a phone or the web, so "Set Time From Network" doesn't work.

Not so easy to do ... ;-)
About my LENOVO A5500F,
from OA I get 2 ways to reach the gpx files I did move/copy in main SD : /storage/sdcard0/opencpn/TRACES
/storage/emulated/0/opencpn/TRACES
the path can also be (Tracks also on the secondary SD) /storage/sdcard1/OpenCPN/TRACES
/storage/emulated/1/OpenCPN/TRACES
with files in /storage/sdcard1/OpenCPN/- opencpn_4.1.718.apk
- [] CM93 ............ (vector charts)
- [] PC_MED .......... (kaps)
- [] TRACES .......... (gpx)
- equipement_secu.pdf
As you see, the app is on extra SD and run from there,
my tracks files (made on oCPN.3) are there too
What happen ?
- see capture of the files explorer
- if I tap one of the file's name
- nothing (no sign something occures)
- after a while : blank (black) screen
- after the waiting wheel (twice) OA displays its complete window
- but ... no more Route or Track on the chart
Same things when I try to export (the explorer ask me to enter a file name and nothing is made + OA reloadind)
Don't know if you could find sthg in logs or config ?
I can't upload them ! :-(

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718
Samsung Note; interesting things...
After deleting ALL navobj.xmls including backups with the number extensions, I was able to import a gpx from extSdCard path above. (storage/extSDCard/STUFF/testexport.gpx )
But, having done so, I can import no more. ...the Black Crash again!
and,
just tossing this in as a weirdo,Once (so far) I was able to Import one of the navobj.xml.#...from
/storage/sdcard0/Android/org.opencpn.opencpn/files/navobj.xml.4
edit added: PS I am trying to be careful to shut OA down and allow a rest between beatings.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718
Here comes your nmeaesis. From the man with (too) many connections ... ;-)
OK, so with a wireless device, how do I exactly upload my waypoints (and routes) ???
(Basically asking if TCP upload is anywhere near the pipeline perhaps).
BTW This hangover from the wired world (but related, as I am on a wireless Garmin gps source here): with Garmin in Garmin mode we cannot share Garmin gps data (at source) with other devices (they require nmea). Now I understand this Garmin mode was required to send routes and wpts. BUT I was able to send waypoints to Garmin via nmea from other pieces of software (e.g. Max Sea). Hence a question: any chance we could get nmea Garmin mode (for upload) one day? Just asking, I am fine with how things are as I have heaps of options BUT it would be very nice to have this option too (in my singular case).
Cheers,
b.
