If you open the options dialog twice, and look at the vector chart settings, is there anything funny there?

Also. does it happen on NOAA S57 vector charts?

If this is a recent problem, I suppose we shall have to try git bisect to find the offending commit. Do you recall when this problem first appeared?

Dave
Dave

It occurs only with "mariners standard" option
if I select "all" option for example, there is no problem.

my process :
I open O and open otion dilaogue (tab "vector charts display"
I select "mariners satandard" and click on "select all" .
then the display is OK.
I exit O
in the .conf file all objects are selected (value 1 )
I start O : the display is still OK
I open option dialogue : 80% of the objects are unchecked.
I click on "OK" or "APPLY" the display is broken
exit O
in the .conf file 80% of the objects are deselected accordingly (value 0 )
What is even more curious is now if I open O, while objects are
deselected in the config file, the display is OK with all the objetcts

I tried git-bisect but whithout success at the moment
To do : load some NOAA S57 and try

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.427

I have tried a samsung rooted s3, with a wifi connection from open cpn running on a win 7 laptop

The tool bar stays on the screen , the ais button occasionally goes very small, but clicking it again it comes back. cant make it invisible, probably, my lack of knowledge. (as never remove tool bar on laptop)

The position comes across the network, along with the single stationary ais target. ( long way up river, no commercial traffic), shows in ais target page but not on screen. same ais settings as on laptop, where it shows.

will be going down river this weekend so hopefully will be able to report more.

Dave,

Some built-in GPS chips produce "position" information that requires conversion to nmea data.

It's all greek to me but this may be a good place to start for you. LocationManager | Android Developers)

Dave

The problem is not due to O

What I've done :
1) reloaded and installed official 4.0 version : no problem
2) compiled 4.0 : problem was still here
3) changed the additional files location ( s57data, uidata, etc..)
I read in the log that "SData_Locn is /usr/share/opencpn/"
but the files was in .opencpn/
so O read first in SData_Locn then in .opencpn to find the files
I put all files in the right place.
The result was a bit better and the curious behaviour I described above disappeared
4) finally I fixed the problem by suppressing the "wxLB_SORT" parameter in "ps57CtlListBox"

Conclusion : No bug but a sort problem on my system when using a compiled not installed version.(and may be a Linux specialist could help me)

Sorry to have disturbed with a specific and local problem

Dave

Back to toolbar manipulations tests.

With the last commits, the recovery grabber reactivity on Windows is fixed.

But dragging by the "normal" grabber is disabled. Now it's possible to move toolbar only when the "4-way arrow" icon is shown that is in my point of view not logical.
Also I would suggest to trigger the "fade" timer during dragging to ovoid toolbar disappears while moving it.
Attached suggested patch

JP,
your patch doesn't work here for Mac OS X.
However switching on moving toolbar with right click and switching off with next right click when done is absolutely logical. There is also no disappearing while moving with Dave's code.
Perhaps you include your patch with ifdefs for Windows?

Gerhard

Sorry for the no working patch.
Windows and Linux have in this particular case exactly the same behavior.
I am OK with the process. What I mean is that the "moving on" is on the wrong grabber.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.427

JP,
are you responsible for latest commits of grib_pi also?
I have a few issues with Mac OS X:
In GribUIDialogBase.cpp I have to uncomment line 789
Code:
m_fgSetDataSizer->Add( 0, 0, 1, wxEXPAND, 5 );
In GribSettingsDialog.cpp I change line 515 to
Code:
#if defined( __WXMSW__) || defined ( __WXOSX__ )
Same in line 549.

wxFormBuilder doesn't work for Mac OS X and I still have to adjust some objects of SettingsDialog by hand.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.427

jp...

The current action seems logical to me.
The toolbar drags only when the 4-way arrow is shown.
Otherwise, the grabber is used to hide the toolbar by single tap.

The reason I have done this is because we are trying to combine several functions on the grabber, (hide/move/rotate) and it may be physically very small on some devices. Difficult to drag.

I might be convinced of your suggestion, at least maybe if the device is not a "touch screen" type device. But I do not like the resulting platform difference in this case.

Opinions?
Dave

OK for GribSettingsDialog.cpp lines 515 & 549.

But I don't understand for GribUIDialogBase.cpp line 789
It's a spacer and there are many others in the code. Why this one?

Anyway it has nothing to do with wxFormBuilder. What are the other adjustements you have to do?

Dave

The reason of my suggestion :
The two actions the more frequently done are, I think, show/hide and move. The third action, rotate is more or less "do it and forget"
So the grabber which is the default one, the one you get at start I name "normal grabber" should allow to do both.
Currently, it's not the case.
To move tool bar you have to first right click then move, then right click once again to eventually hide or allow auto hide

To sum up
Currently:
- normal grabber (default) = hide auto hide
- 4-way arrow grabber = move + rotate no auto hide
toggle between grabbers by right click on both
My suggestion is:
- Normal grabber (default ) = hide + move . no auto-hide during move
- 4-way arrow icon = rotate no auto hide
toggle between grabbers by right click on both

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.427

jp...

I understand your points and suggestion, well considered.

My point is that dragging with the normal grabber on a small touch screen is difficult/impossible. So I built the larger 4-way grabber for dragging.

Anyway, I really think that all manipulation of the toolbar, either rotate or drag, is a very infrequent operation for most users. Set it once for your best orientation, and forget it. Show/Hide is surely much more often.

A compromise would be to allow dragging with either icon present, or we could do it one way for touch screens, and the other way for mouse access systems. However, I very much prefer to keep the UI items and actions identical (or very close) for all platforms.
