Worked in my chroot installation using a Garmin usb GPS. With Garmins, the garmin proprietary driver must be loaded..... Sooo, support for the driver must exist in the kernel. Same for other usb GPS with proprietary drivers. Otherwise, most other GPS should work. GPSD was running in my installation too.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.427

Hi Dave

Tested the last git compilation on Windows with a "classical" notebook
i.e. no touch screen and no scaled graphic interface options

1) no auto-hide toolbar
- grabber is now a black square icon ( see shot grabber1 )
- the right click option to orientate toolbar no longer works, but :
- first right click, then each single left click will toggle vertical/horizontal
- right click again then each single left click will toggle hide/show toolbar
an oddy behavior ...
2) auto-hide toolbar option selected
- no possibility to orientate toolbar
- grabber is shown two time : on the top-left and on the right of the toobar
(see shot grabber2 )

Tested also the last git compilation on Linux Kubuntu with a "classical" notebook

Same behaviour as described in #108 with the oddly particularity :
The grabber icon is some time a black square but also some time another icon
(see two shots attached)

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.427

jp...

In 4.1.427, there is a change in the toolbar grabber operation as follows:

There is a new icon set for the toolbar manipulation tool, the "Grabber". To see the new toobar "Grabber" icon, you must copy the uidata directory from the source tree into your local build directory, as mentioned in the Windows build instructions.

The UI for the toolbar grabber changed as well.
1. Left click to hide toolbar.
2. Right click to switch to 4-way drag arrow.
3. Single left click on 4-way arrow toggles orientation.
4. Right click on 4-way arrow switches back to grabber.

If you do not copy the new UIData directory, you will see incorrect icons.

Thanks for the report
Dave

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.427

Dave

Thanks and sorry. I had not looked at built instructions for a long time.
It works fine

I still have to migrate to wxWidgets 3.0
I can't migrate to VS2013 due to Vista. I hope I can continue with VS2010 for a while

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.427

New Git tests :

As I said earlier, "grabber" and toolbar hide/show/orientate work fine
Nevertheless I faced some problems

- Windows specific :
when toolbar is hidden either by clicking on the grabber or by auto-hide timer, the first click on "recoverwin" grabber do not work. I have first to click or drag the map. It looks like a focus problem.
adding "m_pRecoverwin->Raise() at toolbar.cpp::517 seems to fix it.

- Linux (Kubuntu 14.04 ) specific
Occurs only with CM93 charts
When opening option dialogue and closing it by OK or Apply, even doing nothing, the chart display is lost. I have to exit O and restart to recover the normal display
You can see in the shot attached the normal display, and the bad one after opening and closing the dialogue

On the Kubuntu 14.04, will you post your OCPN logfile entries relating to OpenGL setup?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.427

Wrong...

I still do not understand the situation where a specific type of android GPS does not provide NMEA data stream according to the standard Android API.

Can you direct me to some online discussion about this, so I may learn more?

Thanks
Dave

Dave,

could you please make a switch for logging
"OpenGL extensions available:"

yes or not. The log file grows very fast otherwise.

Yes, thanks for reminding me. This is mostly for android debug, anyway.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.427

jp...

I cannot reproduce the problem with Kubuntu 14.04/cm93.
I have almost exactly the same hardware for Kubuntu 12.04, and no problem.

If you open the options dialog twice, and look at the vector chart settings, is there anything funny there?

Also. does it happen on NOAA S57 vector charts?

If this is a recent problem, I suppose we shall have to try git bisect to find the offending commit. Do you recall when this problem first appeared?
