Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.409

Installed on asus TF300.

Can't connect to internal GPS. When CPN is launched the GPS status shows up in the system status bat and fixes on a location but CPN doesn't seem to get it

I tried input filtering blank and with GPGGA and GPRMC but no luck.

Anyone have any areas?

Matt

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.409

Possibly bug:

Chart directory selection window seems to allow drag and drop operation on android directories visible in this window. Should not.

Seems very fine on this machine. I will test tomorrow on another.

more morrow

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.409

Download, install , internal GPS all fine. Also fuzzy icons in the menu bar, and although it is obviously not an app that follows normal Android UI conventions, it seems to work fine. Zooming/panning works good.

I downloaded two of the charts on the "chart sources" page, 25666_1 and 25640_1. It looks like 25640_1 (Ensenada Honda) isn't displayed, even when zooming really close in.

Clicking on the route manger icon, gives debug message. Let me know if you want to see it, and I'll try to upload a screenshot.

Awesome job in getting it this far!

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.409

Dave this is wonderful! I have only had a smartphone for 2 weeks now, a cheapo, its a Leagoo Lead 7, Android V 4.2.2. 1gig ram, 8 gig storage.

Downloaded the APK and then side loaded from the laptop.
Install was fine. Pointed to chart directories fine. GPS Built in fine.

Some comments.

In this release the Android In App Menu button on the left is unused. This could be used to toggle the standard menu on and off to allow more screen real estate.

I have modified the toolbar to exclude:
Zoom in and out
Hide AIS Targets
Show Currents
Show tides
Print Chart
Change Color Scheme
About OpenCPN
Drop MOB
...as they will not be used on the 'droid

OpenGL acceleration really works well, without it, it's yaaawn.
Some Android errors came up but "ignore" has suppressed them, cannot repeat.
Toolbar transparency is unachievable.

Some Android devices have Pressure sensors, this could be a nice source for barometric trend tracking.

Tap-and-hold brings up the context menu:-
"Toggle Full Screen" does nothing.
"Measure" brings up the line drawing but the dialog with distance measured is a yellow background with no data.
The other menu items work.

Two finger tap hides boat icon until redraw

Tap-and-hold of the toolbar "handle" brought up error '..src/common/wincmn.cpp(3721)assert "!wxMouseCapture::IsInCaptureStack(this)" failed in CaptureMouse():'
It goes away tapping "cancel" and the toolbar changes shape, but the original shape remains underneath.

I hope these comments will help.

Well done Sir!

Do I dare try it on my wife's Samsung Note 8 tablet?

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.409

Hi Guys

I am very new to this forum so please excuse the stupid questions. However, I downloaded OPCN for Android and loads perfectly, thanks for this. However, it does not recognise my internal GPS. The GPS is switched on and I tried settings/connections/add connection.... but then the options are serial/network and built in Bluetooth. There is no option for internal GPS, please help.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.409

Thanks!! Have been waiting for this a long time!
Installed it, put a layer with wayoints in it.
Want to use UserIcons, where do I put them?

Will test it this weekend with wifi, GPS, AIS etc.

Am running it on a ASUS TF700.
