OpenCPN / export KML

Hi all,

I'm just digging into openCPN, mainly for its capability to interact with qtVlm and zyGrib. All this runs on Linux on my Box (see e.g. https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:DocB/qtVlm )
I read and followed the instructions on how to exchange routes between openCPN and qtVlm (opencpn.org/ocpn/weather_routing), but I get a parsing error in qtVlm.
Now I read several postings about a plugin for KML export...is this availabel for Linux as well? Any other recommendations on data exchange?

Thanks
Axel

Axel...
Just tried to copy a route from OpenCPN to qtVlm and there was no problem. We need an exact failure scenario here.

Re: OpenCPN / export KML

I am running linux and use GpsBabel
to convert tracks, routes, waypoints from GPX to KML. Export from OpenCPN as GPX file and run GpsBabel from the command line. Lots of formats, simple command line.

Don't know what flavor of linux you are running, but you might want to check out Navigatrix. Full operating system you can run from a 4 gig stick. Designed by cruisers for cruisers... Includes OpenCPN, Airmail, Tide Charts, Grib Imports, Celestial Nav tables and reduction, Wine (to run window$ applications) and a bunch more. You can run side by side with your current OS as a dual boot or off the stick. Oh, and it includes GpsBabel already... (German Language version available as well)

Hope it's a help

Re: OpenCPN / export KML

Hi Capt-Couillon, thanks for the hint on the live-Distro. Will take a look at it. I run openSUSE, and GPSbabel is available there as well.
Of course it would be smarter if direct copy works.
@Pavel: Here is what I did (see screenshot View image: opencpn1
I copied 'all as text', inserted into an empty file and deleted the first 10 rows (route description, tried with as well, but did not help).
Then I opened up a route in qtVlm in Ortho-mode and got the error:
Erreur ligne 1, colonne 1:
error occurred while parsing element

Re: OpenCPN / export KML

OK, I found where I made the error - sorry for the confusion!
