OpenCPN Desktop v. Laptop

With the same version of OpenCPN and with exactly the same set of charts the buoys appear on my desktop with object name (objnam) and on my laptop without object name.
It is the same with versions 3.0.2 and 4.0.0.
How is that possible?

Review Options->Charts->Vector Chart Display to be sure you have selected exactly the same check boxes on both computers. Most likely they are not the same.

Re: OpenCPN Desktop v. Laptop

I have Desktop and Laptop next to each other. Both version 4.0.0.
On both: Mariner's Standard and select all.
All the boxes under Display Category checked.
!!! Except Important Text Only !!!
That is crucial on the desktop but doesn't help on the laptop.
What more can I do?
Thanks anyway for your answer.
Andries.

As a test you probably want to uncheck the following:

Important Text Only
De-Cluttered Text
Reduced Detail at Small Scale

Between your laptop and desktop the screen resolution may be different. I believe OpenCPN takes this into account when deciding whether to hide text that may not be readable at certain scales. Also, for CM93 charts there is a slider that controls what level of detail to display. That may also depend on screen resolution.

Another difference might be the OpenGL hardware library between desktop and laptop. To test you can run OpenCPN with the -no_opengl option at the command line. This will run without OpenGL.

Andries...
What about our all time favorite, the "A+" aka. "Show ENC Text" icon in the toolbar?

Thank you for all your replies.
Things can be so easy. Embarrissing.
Click off under Vector Chart Display: Important Text Only.
Press on on the Toolbar: A+ Show ENC Text (T).
That is all.
I use Dutch ENC charts by the way, one of you asked.
Thanks again, Andries
