OpenCPN can't see Canadian Hydrographic Charts

A few others have had this problem and I've tried the suggestions (installing vcredist_x86, the bsb4_pi.dll and the bsb4_win32_pi15_v12_pi.dll ) on my W10 laptop but Opencpn just can't seem to find/see/interpret the .CAP raster charts (from year 2013). Any ideas would really be appreciated. JA

I have the same problem and the origin is that if the charts are not registered with CHS, you will not be able to install them.
Good luck.
If they are then copy them into a directory for Raster charts on you hard drive.

They are registered and loaded onto my hard drive in C:/Chartkit/BSBChart/
Is there something special about "a directory for Raster charts on your hard drive" ? I was originally able to install the charts and access them via Opencpn on my W7 laptop but the HD crashed so I had to buy a new laptop with W10.

Here it is. Sorry, can't seem to attach it so it's included with msg. Appreciate your help.
I don't know if it's significant but the entry at 1:41:23 PM: indicates an incorrect directory for the charts. Previously I have copied all the CHS files to this directory but doesn't help. No idea why he insists on this directory.

My advice plus 5 bucks will buy you coffee pretty well anywhere however I have fought with enabling the CHS charts under OpenCPN and won on more than one occasion. The CHS installer suggests that you can choose your own directory for the installation but I do not believe that is true. If you do not use the default directory (c:\chart kit I believe) then the installation will not be usable. IMNTBHO

Keep your Chartkit (Bsb chart and incryption) subfolder were they are and copy only your charts in the Bsb chart sub folder to a new folder (say for exemple:- Marine charts Subfolder:- BSB charts.
That should work.

We need a little more of the logfile, especially that part that shows when you try to add a directory of .CAP charts.

Forget about the red-highlited entry for now, that is just a paceholder from a previous run. Start from scratch, no charts loaded, with bsb4 PlugIn enabled, and simply add your directory of CAP charts. In the logfile, near the bottom, you will see some activity as the BSB4 PlugIn tries to validate the chart keys from the registry, and load the .CAPs. This is the section we want to study.

I deleted the entire installation including the two .dll plugin files and havenot reinstalled them.
I did not install charts during the OPENCPN install but waited until the pgm was installed and used the options menu to instal the charts.
I specified the C:Chartkit/BSBChart as the location of the chart info but for some reason the log file shows C:\Users\Kathy\Documents\Charts\BSBChart - the chartkit file (which contains .CAP files) does not appear in the log file at all (???)
For what it's worth, the opencpn.ini file shows "BaseChartDir=C:\\Users\\Kathy\\Documents\\Cha rts"
I can send you the entire .ini file if you wish.

I tried this and various combinations of putting the actual charts in various sub-directories but to no avail. But thanks for the idea anyway. I don't normally use icons but this one seems particularly appropriate.
