Re: OpenCPN Beta Windows Plugins

Hello,

The BSB4 source code and NV-Verlag is "secret." therefore, only Dave can propose new versions for these two plugins.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Windows Plugins

For 'Released' versions first check:
PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage OR
opencpnplugins | SourceForge.net
which been updated with many new plugin releases.

These Windows Beta plugins are for those who wish to help test plugins before 'release' or who wish to try out newer or improved versions with more features.

Opencpn Beta File Thingie rguser rgpass

4.0 PI Win Directory
br24radar_pi.dll.ov4-0-douwe-fix.pdf
Douwe fixed crashes on slow Win machines. Please rename as br24radar_pi.dll
and copy to your plugins directory.

4.1.602 PI Win Directory
br24radar_pi-1.2-ov4.1.602-douwe-fix-win32
climatology_pi-1.1-ov4.1.602-DATA-win32

Climatology now includes the necessary data. Issue resolved now for Windows.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Windows Plugins

Please note that Peter (ptulp) has updated Polar_pi 1.1006 to output files that are compatible (eliminating intermediate zero entries) with weather_routing_pi. Find it in the 4.1.602 Win PI directory of File thingie

Gyro wrote about rtlsdr_pi:

Am I doing something wrong,no one version of rtlsdr_seem to be working on opencpn 4.0 ?
No, probably not. It does not work for me either, but we are making some progress. Read and Participate in the rtlsdr_pi thread.

4.1.818 PI Win Directory
ocpn_draw_pi-0.4.506-ov4.1.818-win32 9-1-2015

Has been updated by Jon and it works very nicely. Give it a try. Requires Opencpn v4.1.818

Also in the root opencpn_4.1.818_setup 9-1-2015

Re: OpenCPN Beta Windows Plugins

EBL: possibility of range and bearing from EBL-point TO own ship?

OpenCPN just gets better and better and the EBL in the Draw PI is a great feature. It gives the position of an EBL-point (other ships/objects) in relation to your own position. But I'm wondering.. is it possible (and useful) to add an option to turn it the other way round? I mean: to give my range and bearing FROM that other ship/object? (e.g. "This is Seanymph, my position bearing 123 degrees from buoy X, distance 3 miles"). After all, isn't that's (one of) the way(s) we are supposed to communicate our position?

Of course I can use Measure to give me the information but that won't update automatically as I move on.

Am I missing something?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Windows Plugins

Roel,

the range is of course the same and to invert bearing just add 180º (or subtract if getting a result >360º)

Re: OpenCPN Beta Windows Plugins

Hi Hubert,

You are absolutely right. Just add or subtract 180. But I was also thinking of a situation in wich I might "want" to say "This is Seanymph, my position bearing 123 degrees from buoy X, distance 3 miles and I am on fire. In such a situation I might (just might...) get my maths wrong....

Re: OpenCPN Beta Windows Plugins

Just tell SAR that you have the Lighthouse at a bearing of 123º .
They are trained to deal with such information - hopefully...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Windows Plugins

Think Roel's suggestion is good, it is just how to implement this easily without getting it complicated. Would a right click and selection of "Invert" with a brief message help?. Just brainstorming here. --BCN, just saw your SAR comment.

Thank you for supporting my suggestion. But I DID miss something. I can also use the "navigate to" option to give me the info.

OOOOPS. Of course what I just wrote is nonsense. The "navigate to" option won't give "bearing to own boat". Sorry.....

Re: OpenCPN Beta Windows Plugins

Yes, good point. Glad you are using it. Keep the ideas coming. Can you help write the manual for the plugin?
