Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

There are a few more new features that did not make it to the official list.

*When GRIB and tide/currents
are both visible, then tide/current calculations are shown at the "GRIB
time". The color of the tide/current "widgets" change is to notify the user that the tide/current reference time has changed from "local NOW time" to "GRIB time".

*Now a course predictor is shown even when the actual AIS target, or the end point, is not visible on screen.

*Implemented user selectable SOG/COG calculation from position data.
If not available trough normal NMEA.

*Add US Pilot charts to the chart sources in the chart downloader.

*The "Course-Up Update Period" feature has a new name to better describe what happens: "Chart Rotation Averaging Time"

Have I missed anything??

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

Tested Beta version for the first time. On my Windows7 system (beta for Linux is not yet available).

All seems to work well. The keyboard short works well for (S)oundings and (T)ext. However the L key for switching on/off the lights works sometimes with one touch or I have to tap several times on the L key to switch off the light. Perhaps a matter of timing.

Doing more test when Raspberry Linux comes available.

Regards,

Bram

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

Hello,

W10, O4810109,

Grib plugin :
The current arrows are poorly drawn in the Grib plugin.
Setting: Arrow of small sizes or normal size, proportional length.

The grib plugin used for this test is here : DL.FREE.FR
It is a grib downloaded, some days ago, from SkyRon : OpenSkiron - OpenWRF Gribs

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

1° On my PC, Lenovo, W10, no problem with L.

2° Whith the plugin Dashboard. See the difference from O48 and O48.10109.

Not good for GPS Status with O48.10109.

The current implementation stores all pilot charts in the same directory. With this, I can't separate them into chart groups. Probably a mute point for most oceans, but the Caribbean is covered by "Central North Atlantic" as well as "Western North Atlantic", and having all pilot charts in one directory makes it a somewhat of a mess to select the right chart, for the right month.

Oh, and one spelling error in the chart downloader: it is Caribbean, not Carribean.
