Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Thomas, thanks, will read that again. Does that now mean we compile all plugins with API 1.10 in the current beta version, until a release version is set?

So we would now compile in 3.3.604, and then some future 3.3.XXX until there is a release? Knowing that will be very helpful.

Here are two Grib_pi versions that work with Opencpn 3.2.0 with the new interface one with Saildocs email and the other with Saildocs and Zygrib email.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

"jd1" found a new bug in Linux portaudio implementation.
I first thought that if the sampling rate of the wav file is less than 22050, the sound is distorted or does not play at all. Further tests contradicts this, and the problem may instead be linked to the size of the file.
Try files 2 and 4 on this page AUTHENTIC NAVY ALARM SOUNDS. These files does not work.
File 1, rather small with a sampling rate of 8000 works, wile the large No 3 file with a sample rate of 22050 does not.

Another couple of long days behind us. 85 miles under the keel yesterday and one crash. No nice error report this time. Dashboard started flashing which is usually the precursor to a crash so I tried zooming and switching charts. Eventually O locked up. Task manager showed 50% CPU usage. I left it for 10 minutes - no change. Finally had to force close from TM because O is generally our only nav system & I got nervous.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Pavel..

I KNOW I am being a nuisance repeating my error report of the Route Manager which is no longer able to import, edit and save group .gpx POI´s.

For a long time now I have had to use a GPX Editor to manually edit my Country POI´s and it is becoming a pain in the a..!

When do you think this long standing error will be corrected?

Tore...

Now is a good time.

But, its been a while since I thought about this.
Please describe the desired workflow and problem behavior again. Or, point to a Forum thread so that we can refresh our collective memory.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Dave..

I think I described it clear enough in my previous # 111.
Pavel also knows all about it and promised to have it corrected in new releases.

I have created a great number of POI´s around the world and grouped them in order of country names. i.e. BRAZIL POIS.gpx etc.. etc.. and many CF users have downloaded them from my Cloud Drive.

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...-s-106988.html

In order to edit these grouped POI´s,I need to IMPORT the respective COUNTRY.gpx file into the Route Manager´s Waypoint area and then EXPORT the file again into the layers directory of OpenCPN. As you will see from the attached screendump in my # 111,all the country POI´s are loaded up correctly in the layers area,as well as displayed on the map page.

It also is essential to be able to mark ALL the WPT´s of the imported POI.gpx file for
EXPORT,presently you can only export one WPT at the time.

For some time now I have instead had to use my XML Editor to make any changes to my POI´s and then save back to the layers directory. This is very cumbersome and time wasting and I hope this can now be corrected in a new release.

Thanks for lending an ear...

Tore

This stuff is implemented, you can select and export multiple navobjects in 3.3.

I'm being simple.
Please describe what is not working right for your workflow in 3.3.604.

Thanks

OK,thanks, but that is only a part of the malfunction, the main problem still exists.

Come on Dave, surely I do´nt have to explain any further?

The bottom line is,the Route Manager have for some time not been able to update POI files in the Waypoint section. This has also been known by Pavel who asked me not to be impatient and wait for some future version update which never came.

Seems I am not the only one reporting errors in the Route manager:

Dave..

The POI´s are listed in the Route manager´s ´layers´area and displays and functions normally on my maps, but will NOT import to the Waypoints area for editing, and I have had to use an XML Editor for all my POI updates.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Tore....

Believe it or not, Pavel and all the rest of the very thin programming team have a very large number of issues to juggle, most of which affect more than one user and platform. Top priority issues are:
1. Crashes of any sort.
2. Cross platform compatibility.

And we still have some of those kinds of bugs outstanding.

So actually, Tore, you do need to describe your issue again.

If I understand correctly, this POI/layer issue is not a bug, it is an enhanced functionality request. The link you gave for other reported issues goes nowhere.

I don't see a Flyspray request, and I still don't understand the problem.

Please tell me, in simple 1,2,3 steps, what you are doing, and where O could be better to help you. I'm not getting much from your screenshots.

quote:
1. "The POI´s are listed in the Route manager´s ´layers´area and displays and functions normally on my maps. (sounds OK)

2. but will NOT import to the Waypoints area for editing.
How are you trying to "import" the Waypoints for editing"?

3. and I have had to use an XML Editor for all my POI updates. (OK as a workaround, I understand this is not convenient)"

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Dave..

I know you are all busy creating this marvelous navigation program for us,for which I am of course very grateful.

As a daily user of OCPN I feel it incumbent upon me to report any malfunction in the intended operation of the program. The ´layers´ function can hardly be called an enhanced functionality request,no more than any other function of the program.

To elucidate further and in answer to your 2.) question: While accessing the Route manager, having selected the Waypoints area,I click the bottom left IMPORT button and select f.ex. the BRAZIL POIS.gpx file located in my OCPN sub-directory ´layers´.
This .gpx file,or any of the other POI .gpx files in this directory will NOT be loaded into the Waypoints page of the Route manager for editing.

The link I submitted for other reports in the same CF thread works perfectly for me.
Does that mean a CF search result link will only work on MY computer?
Seems I am not the only one reporting errors in the Route manager:
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...archid=5292797

I can understand that the priorities have to be made for crashes and cross platform issues, but,it is also very important to maintain existing features and not let them fade on the way without notice or explanation. I am not sure who originated the concept of POI´s,but it is a VERY important feature, not only for me.

I have made a download link to my POI´s available for users of CF:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?...jg&usp=sharing

Thanks again for all your hard work creating a unique piece of navigation software.

Tore

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Tore...
OpenCPN tries to retain all the information in the waypoints as much as it can, that's why you can't have the same waypoint in a layer and import it as a normal waypoint - they are simply the same, already existing (in the layer), waypoint for us. Just remove it from the layers for the time when you want to edit it. To use the MS speak "That's not a bug, that's a feature"
The search results probably work just for the user who performed the search, that's why we can't see them while you do.
