RythmDoctor...

re:
"The way O works now, if I interface the compass, I will get heading up, not course up."

Don't think so. In O, COG is COG, comes from the GPS. HDG is used to draw one of the the ownship vectors on screen, if available.

We don't do head up mode. I think it should be on the Feature Request list if not already. The reality is, though, that very few boats have an interfaced heading sensor unless they use a relatively complicated muxing system.

Thanks for correcting me. I am glad that you do course-up instead of heading up, even if the heading vector is showing. I was not sure, since i have not done the interface yet to test it. I had actually asked about this a few minutes ago in this new thread.

I am considering getting this simple mux to bring SeaTalk data (depth and fluxgate compass) to OpenCPN. I was hesitant to do it because I thought it would cause heading-up instead of course-up. Now that I know better, maybe Santa will come.

A short while ago I requested adding heading-up choice in Flyspray, since I did not see it in a search of existing requests.

The focus loss is real. Its an annoying wxWidgets bug workaround, gone wrong. I'll come up with another idea....

Ptizef...

I pushed new code to github as another try for overzoom blurring on your Windows system. There is something not quite right about the intel OpenGL drivers on your system, so all we can do is experiment. This is not an unusual situation with intel OpenGL....

Please pull from github and try this experiment.

Thanks for your patience.

Dave..
Sorry, no change, maybe worse.
Certain dialogue boxes are still out of focus while NMEA is streaming. And focus theft from other program is more obvious.

-And it's not related to network connections. I've now tested with a serial NMEA input and it's also then the same focus loss behaviour.

- I also think the dialogue box appearance was affected by this change. There where nice round corners and centred text yesterday but now it's back to as it was some weeks ago??

If you found a bug in wxWidgets why not ask the wxWidgets people?
They are always very helpful. You may go to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/wx-dev

I wonder why we didn't ask you. It is about the same. Yes, the upstream also fixes bugs.

Dave,

Some rather simple set ups have access to the boats heading.

For example: An autopilot talking with O would give you a heading. This was the case with my Raymarine S1G.

I will check to see if it is on the feature request list and add it if necessary.

Thanks

This why most modern systems offer, "north up", "course up" and "heading up"; whatever names they use there are three options.

I liked your "route-up" idea...or "leg up" I spose. Seems you could plan to pre-orient the screen up a twisted channel this way.
IMO, in my meanderings, Anything that involves the gps' unmitigated update is annoying except North up and Autofollow on (and without look ahead too)

Black screen zoom
I tried your last commit
Sorry but still here
Curiously when I zoom on a lighthouse
I can go full zoom. But on a cost area without
objects i get systematically the boring black screen

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

JP...

Your OpenGL intel driver is just broken. The standard OpenGL function glGenerateMipmap() just does not work on your system. Produces black images. No surprise, I suppose. intel OpenGL drivers are well known to be faulty in many undocumented ways.

You might try to upgrade your OpenGL drivers, and see if it helps.

Please send me your OpenGL log entries again. I will simply have to disable blurring on this chipset. Looks like you ( and some other wretched intel graphics users) will get fogging instead of blurring.

Sorry

Dave..
I was mixing two issues but could wee first focus on the focus issue? And I will get us some pictures from different Beta versions.

The focus loss for dialogue boxes was not solved by your commit. While NMEA is streaming it's impossible to keep focus long enough to write in box's field.

I'll will get some examples for the dialogue box appearance later this evening. (First some Friday night dinner)
Thanks
