@Caesar
There is still this minor cosmetic problem that the darker gray doesn't fully cover what's intended to start with on many queries.

@Pavel
It's a bit strange with a persistent track from a Base Station. I'm not able to test, for the moment, but I suspect that it's the same case with an ATON target.

Thomas...
Yes, the button is always there and always enabled. I agree we can probably disable it for targets that by definition shouldn't move...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

Thomas,
it might be a problem with Linux. The window is OK with Mac OSX.
A track of a target which does not move makes no sense.
So I simply don't use it.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

This may be a feature request-

1. quilting on, displaying a quilt of non-skewed (obviously) charts
2. roll over a skewed chart in the chart bar
3. you will see a summary of the chart info at the bottom, but no thumbnail of the chart at the top left of the screen
4. rollover any non skewed charts and you will get either a greyed out area or the thumbnail.
5. if you are displaying a skewed chart and rollover the chart bar (a skewed chart or a non skewed chart) you get a thumbnail chart.

What I think should happen with a quilt displayed is that rollover of a skewed chart both the chart summary and chart thumbnail should be displayed. This is not so important when sitting a desk as it is when sitting behind the wheel.

@Gerhard
Yes, probably just a GTK problem.

@Pavel
Here is another Linux problem that does not exist in Windows. Mac? I can't test.

AIS Qarget Query-> Persist Track -> the dialog above pops up.
If a user, for some reason, clicks the "minimize, arrow down", by the cursor in the picture, the dialog is gone for good, and O is locked. Time for Ctrl-Alt-Esc, in other words "xkill".

Thomas...
Is it KDE? This type of modal dialogs should not be minimizable at all...

Re:
"This is exactly the reason why we can't just assign WGS84 to a chart were GD=UNKNOWN or not stated at all."

The safest path here is to simply refuse to load a chart with invalid or unstated GD. And that is what I have implemented.

We may encounter some trouble with charts whose stated GD is not in our table of possibilities. ex: "RT90" vs "RT 90 (Sweden)" which I have seen in testing. I propose to handle these by special case as they occur, rather than try to make a "soft" name comparison and maybe get it wrong.

Fixed in github now.

Thanks
Dave

Ptizef, or any other user who can build from github and uses AZERTY keyboard...

I have committed a change to AZERTY keyboard code that should allow []\ keys for chart rotation.

Please build, test and report, if possible.

Thanks

Thanks Dave!
I went through a few European charts, and got 11K lines in a new log file.
This is the result of the "fishing" expedition.

Quote:
18:41:37 CET: Chart datum {EUROPEAN DATUM 1950} invalid on chart
18:41:37 CET: Chart datum {EUROPEAN DATUM} invalid on chart
18:41:38 CET: Chart datum {Ord Surv of Gr Britain 1936} invalid on chart
18:41:44 CET: Chart datum {Local} invalid on chart ( old SHOM chart)
18:42:16 CET: Chart datum {UNKNOWN} invalid on chart ( probably SHOM)
18:42:20 CET: Chart datum {Madrid} invalid on chart ( probably SHOM)
18:42:24 CET: Chart datum {Monte Mario 1940} invalid on chart (probably SHOM)
18:42:34 CET: Chart datum {European 1950 (Norway Finland)} invalid on chart (Swedish from about 1998)
18:42:35 CET: Chart datum {RT90 (Sweden)} invalid on chart (Swedish from about 1998)
18:42:50 CET: Chart datum {Undetermined} invalid on chart (Swedish from about 1998)
18:42:57 CET: Chart datum {ED50} invalid on chart (Maptech .geo chart??)

Thomas....For info:

Fishing using Swedish inland maps by grid RT90??? Well in small lakes then I suppose.
The RT90 is an old Swedish reference system for inland maps*. It may be transformed to the other system for inland coordinates SWEREF99 which is quit close to WGS84. (More info here if you can get Google to translate: RT 90 – Wikipedia)
RT90 is as far as I know never used for charts.
Håkan

*
The coordinate system is a right-angled flat coordinate net and usually have the extension 2.5 gon V 0: -15, which describes the central meridian is 2.5 degrees west of Stockholm Observatory, ie centrally straight through Sweden

O found 32 charts with GD=RT90 in my set of Swedish charts from 1998.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

In Windows with Menu Bar when chart is "Rotated" with [ the menu popup still shows "X North Up" selected when it is actually "Rotated", as shown in the Opencpn manual. It appears from the Opencpn documentation that under linux this is changed to correctly show X Rotated. The Menu Bar | Official OpenCPN Homepage NOTE: In windows the Menu-bar still shows "X North up"

Manual says "Rotated Mode replaces "North Up Mode". <---- In Windows this does not happen.

Why not have all of them show like this:
- North Up
X Rotated +/- ??? degrees
- Course Up

And show X on the one that is selected?
Show the degrees rotated from North? -Also perhaps degrees rotated should be shown in status bar?

I like the icon in upper left turning when hit [ or ] to rotate
or \ to reset to North Up.

I could not give up. Tried another approach which might work for your system, and others like it. Should give blurring, with I hope acceptable performance. Please test and comment.

Dave

I tried the last git
Unfortunately there is no change
Some area ( most of the cases ) I get black sceen after a scale about 2000
Some area I get a black screen and if I continue zooming I can go to full zoom
Some area I can go to full screen normally ( approximately the same as before )
But in any case where I can go to full screen there is no blurring
And when I am near or at full zoom, panning become slow
