Release 3.3.2410

Release Notes:

409. In the sage words of a fellow tester: "YOU CAN TURN IT OFF"
414. Pavel, we could all use a tuorial on this Feature (AIS target track persistence).

Flyspray...Flyspray.
I left a couple of issues unresolved in Flyspray, since they will take some effort to reproduce and/or correct. They are important, and next on my list.
But I wanted to get on with testing after correcting some serious bugs in cm93 rendering and Win7 stability.

Also, last call for nagging little issues. Don't be shy, bring them up.
And, probably very close to last call for crowdin translations. I think the UI is complete.
Thanks to Pavel for helping to move this internationalization process along.

Thanks, and good luck
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

In WinXP:
Builds fine.

419. Correct Chart Print function under OpenGL (FS#1607):
The bad print in "normal" view and OpenGL is now corrected - great.
Unfortunately the Dialouge Box: "Please wait while printing" is still printed BUT only in OpenGL mode! When OpenGL is switched off the box isn't printed.

Thanks
Håkan

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

Overzoom effects are much better in this release.
Chart scaled 'like raster' after 10x overzoom.
Options both to disable this scaling and the (reduced) blurring.
(I don't approve of the option to disable the scaling... but understand that it is due to popular demand.)
Thanks for taking the time to get this right, Dave.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

There is a situation with vector charts where the zoom gets "stuck". No Zoom-in or zoom-out with +/-

I've seen this with S-63 charts and have a report for InlandENCs as well.
Happens when you have charts at different scales zooming in with "+" key. When O jumps into the larger scale chart I see the effect.
In my case it stucks at 0,5x and in the case of the IENCs it is observed at 0,4x.
Just clicking on the chart piano or the canvas or using the zoom buttons unblocks the zoom.

This is not new for 3.3.2410. Has been observed for previous versions as well.
Win7 in my case, OpenGl off.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

Dave,

O will not close after you check the "Clear Texture Cache" box under the OpenGL settings (just like 3.3.2330) Here is a video of whats going on:

" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">

It appears to function normally, but just will not close without using the task manager.

Notes: Windows 7, processor load up due to video capture software.

I think you really nailed the overzoom effects this time. It's easy to find the checkboxes and all the options allow customizing the display to suit anybody's taste. Great job!

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

Im getting the embossed Overzoom at various scales with CM93 charts.
It comes and goes as I zoom in and out...

Sometimes at overzoom scale 800 the ENC soundings are totally unreadable.
Not all of them, but some. (see the 1,5m sounding, not readable in scale 800)

How do I disable the embossed overzoom text? Is there a way to hide it? (Except changing to another scale...)
I find it annoying. I know what I am doing and I really dislike this feature.
You could add a checkbox for this as well. I like that you added checkboxes for the blurring...

Other than that its running smooth on my Win8 x64, have not tried on my Kubuntu or Scientific Linux yet..

Regarding what part Hubert?

Regarding blurring it works when you disable all blur, when on, it blurs some soundings so much that they are totally unreadable, and you cant be bothered fiddling whit these settings when underway in a narrow strait. (I need a radar for my plotter... To much fog )

I really do not see the point in this feature at all.
There is already the giant "Overzoom" logo, you gotta be blind not to see that.
But no need to comment further on that, it seems like it's staying unfortunately.

Hotrod...

Will you give us the Lat/Lon of your screenshots, so we can duplicate your results?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

Hi testers....

Friendly reminder:

Please check and request closure on your Flyspray tasks, if able. Or leave feedback on Flyspray.

Most of these issues are Release blockers, so we need to address them all.

I know that some of them must be resolved by 3.3.2410. Some even on 3.3.2330. I prefer that the originator of the issue request closure.

Thanks
Dave

Dave, the best is the simplest method. I mean, the two things:
- The easiest to develop for you,
- The most easily understood by users who are not "geek".

It is true that taking a meter or other measuring instrument is easy. But it would not be credible by some users who think that the programmer would not be competent.

For cons, I might add an application. On some boats, there is a computer with two screens. A display 10 'on the outside and a screen of 12' or more, so larger, inside the vessel. It might be good for users who have this kind of hardware can give the right information for the evaluation of scales.

B.R. Gilletarom.

Gilletarom...
Two screens with different physical size and the same picture of course can never be right...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2410 Released

Thanks for changes! waaaay better now! Super fast onXP (without the 1 deg tilt I had) And did I thank you for menu bar? Believe it or not-I expect y'all do!- I didn't even know it existed 'til yesterday....I missed a couple of betas I guess. I wanted that for a long time. And nice to see the "Garmin usb-storage drive" driver disappear too.

Now I'll get back to kicking sand into O's face and see if she can take it!
