Do the graphics errors in your screenshot happen only with OpenGL, or always?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2330 Released

Hello Dave, hello Mollymawk, hello Anyone,

I come back here on the content of the various tabs "Options."
There is one item that bothers me. This is the item Chart "Zoom / Weighting Scale".

It seems to me that this item can not apply raster charts and all documents of the type ".kap" that OpenCPN can display.
It concerns only vector charts.
In the tab where it is placed, the items relate to all charts.

I will see this item placed in the "Vector chart" tab. This is because there was not enough space in the current "Vector chart" tab, you have placed it where it is now?

Best regards. Gilletarom.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2330 Released

Caesar....

Actually, I go the other way. I think the menubar and the options dialogs should track absolutely. The F9 shortcut to temporary single-chart is a whole different animal. Indeed, F9 should have no effect if you are already in persistent single-chart-mode, for whatever reason, although this is presently incorrectly implemented, IMHO.

So, to say again, for the docs:

F9 is temporary toggle.
"Q" is persistent toggle.

Or, if this is too confusing for punters, we should drop the F9 temporary toggle altogether.

re:
Chart "Zoom / Weighting Scale".

This scale applies to all types of charts except cm93.
So I think that it is properly placed with the Display->Advanced page.

This setting applies to all chart types, as you can see on the attached screenshots with settings -5 and 5, at the same scale, completely different charts are used in the quilt (with higher value, the more detailed charts are used sooner).

Do you have a link to the most recent BR24Radar_pi source? I have lost touch with this project...
Thanks

Dave and Caesar...
I'm sorry, the font change was introduced in 3.3.2316 and not in this beta.
I havent' had this toolbox open since then. I've tried a couple of beta updates and the change is after a pull I built 2014-11-24. The first picture here is from that build, and it's not spaces as I wrote.
When I run from a built as of 2014-11-26 the font change is introduced and the squares are there. See next picture.
BR24Radar_pi isn't changed during this period.
Maybe you can find out what commits are made then?

Jean...

re:
as the last betas, 3.3.2330 doesn't work under Mac OSX 10.6.8.
Crash just after start.

We have made the intentional move to not support Mac Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) for OpenCPN Version 4. This is a consequence of moving to wxWidgets Version 3.0. and native 64 bit support. It also appears that Apple has declared that 10.6 will be no longer supported with security updates, etc from September, 2013.

We could build a 32bit version of OpenCPN for 10.6, probably. But it would take extra effort to build and support. If the 10.6 user base is not large, might not be worth the trouble.

Do you think that this will be a very troublesome point for Mac users? Yourself?

Thanks
Dave

Håkan....

What happens if you switch to English?
I'm suspicious of some handling of newline character in the .po file.

Dave.. It's still the same
Note: These menus are kind of special and are updated in runtime and there are no new lines in the .po. I don't know if that can influence?

As you can see on the screenshots, it is north coast of Long Island, just north east of New York. NOAA RNC charts. I just randomly zoomed in "somewhere"...
Let's say 40.913153, -73.466990

Håkan,

If you are able to check out the source from git and build it yourself, could you do a git bisect to find which commit introduces the breaking change?

Dave,

I think the menu items should include every keyboard command, as it helps people find and remember the keyboard shortcuts and understand what they do.
(Not all options need to be in the menu, on the other hand, so IMO having the temporary toggle in the menu should be prioritised over having the permanent one, if we can only have one or other.)

I also think every shortcut should have a non-F-key version. Which is why Q was introduced. F-keys do not work on all keyboards/computers.

Anyway... yes, I think having it working both ways is too confusing.

I would support your idea of simplifying this by getting rid of the temporary toggling and making the menu item and shortcut just toggle the option like most of the menu items.

Caesar
