I'm doing an urgent analysis, and the VDM->VDO feature does not seem to work for me (neither the "always track"/"never track" for AIS targets as well).

I tried official 4.0.0 and also the 3.3.2316 here (of course), but no success. Is this implemented and working?

Having a recorded NMEA file, I tried COM: NMEA input from file with PolarCOM, UDP feed, and VDR plugin replay, (also live net feed just for test), but choosing a specific MMSI for VDM->VDO just makes the specified ship excluded from my display...

Am I doing something wrong, or is it a forgotten feature?

P.

using Neil Arundale's NMEA Router solves my immediate problem, but I would prefer to stick with just a single tool...

Pjotr...
As usually, open a bug in the tracker, attach as much info as possible to it and it will get solved.
As far as I remember all this worked fine when I tested it during the 3.3 beta series (are you talking about two separate issues, right?), so attach sample data to reproduce the problems, if possible, and create a separate bug for each.

Thanks for fast reply. As I said, the immediate need is solved with NMEA Router, but I would love to quote just OCPN in my report.

I promised results by Monday... and the input data is confidential/copyrighted... so I'm just asking if anyone has the functionality right...

A bit unusual, I know.

Thanks,

.

Well then... Start VisualStudio, find out what's up and send a patch

No need to dig into the code...

I was too optimistic, while reading the option title "VDM->VDO". Calling it "Exclude From Plot" perhaps would lead to more realistic expectations (eventually I hope for both functions one day).

Good NMEA Router is there...

Pjotr,

which functionality do you need? Didn't get it from your postings...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2316 Released

Hubert,

What I have in mind was discussed (and solved with NMEA Router) in the Navigation forum here:

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1399192

I would like to have a "remote pilot plug", allowing me to see the screen from the viewpoint of the bridge of a selected target. This gives some features that regular AIS view lacks: visualisation of HDG, use of Dashboard, auto chart follow, CPAs etc.

Two situations:

- in real time, better uderstanding of selected target's situation (really: remote pilot)

- working on an externally recorded stream - post-analysis of a manoeuver, when no other data (IMO VDR or other shipborne log) is available, or as a supplement to it.

Would be nice.
