Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2302 Released

Caesar your explanation is quite clear and such a description would be helpful.
Yes, sliders might be good on the same page of options, and labeled with the appropriate charts, of course.

Problem to connect Bluetooth GPS and also can not send to Saildocs for the weather map. Here is the log for 3.3.2302 clean installation.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2302 Released

P_Dub...

Is it possible for you to test Bluetooth configuration on previous Beta (3.3.2118)? There is major change in internal serial port code with 3.3.2302... I just wonder if 3.3.2302 has "broken" your Bluetooth operation.

Others report that 3.3.2302 is better with Bluetooth than previous Beta...

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2302 Released

Dave, we got the GPS working in 3.3.2118 and the Gribs file request correctly.
We have re-install the version 3.3.2302 and got the GPS Bluetooth working but as far as the Grib file is concern it works once and then nothing. We are using «Outlook 2013 after a clean install. Once reboot and then nothing!
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate with all update.
Attached are the log files renamed as doc.
Regards.

Sean, et al

re:
I can say for sure there is a bug when I put the computer to sleep (suspend) and it is auto following. When it wakes up, the screen is not refreshed correctly and the boat is drawn on the chart where it isn't. Anyone seen this?

I cannot reproduce for the simple case of Windows7 + USB serial port NMEA. Works fine.

More details required:

OS?
Datastream type?
Screenshot?
Recovery method, if any... (i.e. re-engage following, pan screen, etc.)

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2302 Released

Hi there,

is there a way to disable this chart-fading "feature" upon overzoom in O directly ?
On full overzoom, with CM93.2 I see nothing anymore.
What's that worth for ???

For me, this is a clear no-go.

Thanks for leaving at least an option to set FogOnOverzoom=0 in the ini file ...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2302 Released

Thomas,

what is "full overzoom"? x10, x20, x40, x100?

The question is how to deal with the dilemma Dave outlined here:
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1675166

The chart material Jon presented in the same thread shows that even chart sources/chart producers present the same data as representing a different scale .

Where to set the limit and how to make clear - apart from the visible warning "Overzoom" on screen that the precision one might imagine is not there?

You are advocating that there shouldn't be a limit - at least that's what I'm reading between the lines. Everybody should be responsible by oneself.

I can live with that, but others here have exposed arguments that differ.

So what to do?

Hubert, et al...

The current alpha test code has what we might call an "expert" mode. There is a config file setting that disables OZ fogging, but no check box in the runtime options dialog.

So, folks willing to edit the config file can have their high overzoom with charts fully visible.

Default (ie "in-expert") users will get fogging.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2302 Released

Leave it as it is. This was one of the request of some H. Office more than 20 years ago, when they were producing raster charts only. They believe that seaman would feel safer if they would overzoom. Leave it to the individual.

Hi Hubert,

I think CM93.2 can have 40x max.

hjvanh...
The latest beta out is 3.3.2316 - Pretty good for use, actually IMO already more stable than 3.2.2... But of course, if you don't want any changes and possible surprises, you will have to wait a bit more.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2302 Released

And there is alway the possibility to try the (actual or not) beta in parallel with the stable version.
Testing and getting confident that is works.
